  1. Very interesting seeing the difference between answering the questions based on purely personal income and situation or answering based on household facts (which is what they actually ask about)... One says Elite and one says emergent service workers... What a heap of sh**e.
  2. Those videos are awesome! It looks like so much fun! Did the impact that you got on video do much damage to the car? I am surprised you had the temperament to keep driving after hitting the tyre wall / tree - I would have either been furious or absolutely devastated... (more likely the latter)
  3. Hey guys, a quick and pretty generic question that I have seen in here a dozen times but here goes... I am moving back to my parents for a few months and will need a car to travel to work and back (max 150 miles a week). I am moving away again in September so the call will be getting sold on again then. I am essentially looking for a toy so I just want something fun and a bit different. I have always loved cars and have always had a plan for my 'first' car of my own and now I am in a position that I can own one I don't know what I want. Ideally I don't want to spend more than about £2k on the car but insurance etc isn't an issue as long as it is not obscene... Any thoughts?
  4. You have failed the practice citizenship test. Questions answered correctly: 16 out of 24 (67%) Time taken: 05 minutes 11 seconds What a heap of shite... I do not see how someone being able to answer those questions means they are automatically suitable to be citizens in this country? I am all for immigration, in all forms, as long as it is for the benefit of all involved but I do not see this test being in any way a good addition to immigration policy...? Only perceived benefit is that it may act as a test of one's ability to read and understand English?
  5. The only explanation for that is that you were the one causing all the trouble... Did you try to cut through your own door with a chainsaw? I made that mistake too once, very embarassing...
  6. I think you should be fine... You need to consider that any dog that attacks a human being can be put down - regardless of training situation... Best bet is giving one of the training companies a call and make sure you follow the law to the letter! Having read about the dogs a bit online they sounds incredible... I personally could never have one in a house with children (I even lock my springer spaniel out the house when we have kids in and he couldn't bite his way out of a paper bag).
  7. I think I may have found the answer to the initial question. Are you training the dogs to be protection dogs or attack dogs? There appears to be a significant difference in the eyes of the law...
  8. I have done some very brief browsing and come accross some websites. If you search for personal protection dogs you will come accross dozens of companies who offer such services. I am sure you will find (hopefully) that they can help. Edit: didn't actually read anything from the website I linked to - doesn't apply to dwellinghouses. oops :/
  9. That seems to be the sensible thing to do. You say you have children? The thing I would be concerned about is the fact that it doesn't matter how well trained they are, they are still animals and I wouldn't be happy having dogs like that in a house with children.
  10. I know very little on the formalities of this area which is why I am asking as many questions as I am answering. However, you accredits such training? For example, if it is equivelant to the police training where the dog is trained to attack on command then I imagine you could argue it was self defence and protection. Like I said to me (having studied little bits of law) you would need to show it if proportional... If the dog bit and wounded a man wileding a chainsaw where your family were at home then I can imagine you may be okay. However, I know this is a terrible thing to say but the dog is trained to do a job and I am sure you are aware that if it does happen the dog may be put down (regardless of civil proceedings - which couldn't have the dog put down) and if that is the only punishment surely it is worth having them anyway? Edit Re: Matthew - surely if you are the only one who can have the dogs attack on command it makes it kind of useless in the situation you are describing (i.e you're out of the house leaving your family behind?) If the dogs are just trained to be aggressive you won't have a leg to stand on and will get bollocksed in just about every way possible.
  11. I am afraid I don't know for sure... In theory yes you would because they are your property and are in many instances a lethal weapon. However, if it is legal to own such dogs (you said you have owned them before so I am sure you know) I would imagine you would be able to plead self defence... Just need to make sure that, as in all self defence cases, the response to the threat is proportional. Can't be having the dogs maul and kill a 16 year old kid who is chancing his luck stealing some plant pots... Haha! Should also add these circumstances that your not willing to go in to detail about may cause you to be completely f**ked anyway if it makes you appear to be a threat to the community. You should be able to get legal advice on the matter. Try phoning the Citizens Advice Bureau - if they can't answer the question they will be able to put you on to someone who can. Alternatively if you have time you may find the answer in the Dangerous Dogs Act.
  12. Cheers guys, I am usually quite level headed about stuff like this but this is just messing with me... I'm guna stay with it and see how it goes. It is a serious relationship but I suspect it is more serious for her in terms of commitment (she is 5 years older and was in the process of moving back home (international) when we met but she stayed to see how things would go). I almost wish it was just some random guy she met on a night out but she works with this guy and every time she is at work it is all I am going to be thinking about. Hmmm, time will tell...
  13. If by have a word you mean kick the **** out of, well it has already crossed my mind. This guy knows we are together because he was a few years above me at school and I would have considered him a mate... Now it is clear he is a low life little dirtbag. Seriously wanted to explode earlier but I don't want to scare her... Cheers.
  14. Hey guys,I don't usually post on here but since the forum is famous for it's problem solving abilities I may aswell ask... My girlfriend and I have been together for over a year and it has been awesome. She really does mean the world to me. We have never had any serious problems, we have had minor spats but really nothing that means anything... This morning I got a phonecall from her saying she had been stupid and had kissed another guy (from her work). I went round to her house and we spoke about it, there was lots of too-ing and fro-ing. I decided to give her another chance because I do love her and she did seem genuinely sorry and she was totally distraught about it. At that time I thought I was fine and everything would be okay... She went to work about an hour ago and now I have been sitting here just thinking about what I am going to do... I feel like shit! Have any of you guys had an experience like this where you have put something like this behind you and continued on with the relationship? I really don't want to lose her but I just need to know what someone else thinks (don't want to talk to anyone about it just now). Thanks in advance guys.
