  3. We were up on the roof of this massive abandoned estate near me (the Heygate if anyone knows it) recently and the door to the roof slammed behind us for completely no reason. Luckily there was one at the other end of the building and it was unlocked or we'd have been shouting at the residents of Elephant and Castle to come let us out.
  4. Basically, life is about moderation. All this is like saying 'Trials Forum's shit if you look at all the topics you don't like and read EVERY post in EVERY section'. I wish I could be less reliant on Facebook sometimes, but to be honest it's pretty integral to my life, not personally, but in terms of work, promoting things and making links. I work freelance and regularly get jobs through friends/friends of friends/friends of friends of friends (etc) through Facebook. And running a website about music, being friends on there with a lot of the musicians and generally having an ear to the scene helps me get the first scoop on things, better interviews etc. And for promoting my own music/clothing etc it's pretty essential to be on there. And then for actually making links within music, collaborating an stuff, again it's very helpful. Unfortunately the days of people waxing lyrical in record shops and making musical links through that are dwindling. Yes, it takes up a lot of my time, but the fact is that all that stuff would take up a lot more of my time otherwise, it's a very powerful tool and the least time consuming way to do all that. It's without a doubt opened up doors for me. And sure, I could just do all that and nothing personal, but it doesn't really work if you just go on there and promote things or whatever non stop, for social media to work in that sense you have to be a personal, likeable presence on it. For instance, if someone likes an irrelevant personal status I make (to be honest I also enjoy getting shit off my chest and out of my brain sometimes) then due to Facebook algorithms they're more likely to see the next status I write. Like I say, I wish sometimes it didn't have to be like that, but in the industry's I work in it's keep up or get left behind. What does piss me off though is how more and more social networks keep popping up and people expect you to actually use them ALL. I use Facebook, Twitter a tiny bit, have a LinkedIn account and that's it, I don't have a smart phone and spend enough time looking at a computer as it is so that's how it's gonna stay.
  5. There seems to be these wierd connotations about doing things on your own that you can only get past as you grow up. Personally I'm happy with and confident in the health of my social life, it seems like only people who can't say that would feel insecure about doing things on their own. Who gives a shit if some random you'll never see before is insecure enough about their own stuff to immedietely jump to the conclusion that you really wanted to go with other people but couldn't find anyone? I'm not really a cinema person mind you, but as said I'd happily travel/holiday/eat/chill in a pub/coffee shop etc on my ones so I don't see how the cinema's any different.
  6. That's true. But it just depends on how grueling your field is really (/how drunk you are).
  7. I used one of them occasionally at uni, incredible lens. All my gear is BATTERED. To be honest I only buy thing's I'm happy to break, I'd rather have basic equiptment and be able to not worry about in in the field then have expensive stuff and miss the best shots because I'm worried about breaking it. I'm gravitating more and more towards point and shoot film cameras for my purposes these days.
  8. Dunno to be honest, I just look at it as a moment that had a big effect on me in terms of not taking things for granted (quite as much at least). It sounds cliche but it kind of felt like the last moment of childhood, wandering round this dangerous place thinking your invincible with not a care in the world when something like that happens and you suddenly think 'shit, this is real'.
  9. Hitting snooze. Spudding my mates and stomping inna dance. Walking along with a leaf peeling it so you just have the skeleton of it. Dropping a needle onto vinyl. Ghost shits.
  10. That's rare, like Mark says if you're not doing anything wrong you're generally safe. However, it only takes one jumped up muppet with a few screws loose and more money/contacts then sense and you have a gun in your gut. Knife crime's a much bigger problem though and is unfortunately way too common in some of the places/scenes I frequent. I've seen a couple in London, only ever had one pointed at me when I was robbed in Brazil though, I think that moment was enough to genuinely change me as a person.

    Amsterdam

Try Venice, girl I was with paid €18 for a single vodka lemonade. Amsterdam is wicked though. Just stay at any relatively central hostel (last time I went was over last NYE and we stayed in 'Tourist-inn Hotel' which was decent enough, you can see titties from the window). I don't really know about much of the touristy stuff other than just strolling red light but can give you the coffee shop low down if that's your thing.
  12. Been trying to get my name changed on here for a while (if anyone relevant sees this, mind dropping me a PM?). Untill then, not about participating in threads like these.
