Grinding Rims

IMO grinds are not worth it:

a.) wear pads away quicker

b.) weaken rim sidewalls

c.) look bad

The solution? Use a bit of tar :D  :-

Sorry, but lol.

Let's start with the pros and cons with tar:

Pros: Cheap, good lockage, easy to apply and get

Cons: Modulation=nothing, can make the pads stick=bad, also can rip pads off the backing, doesnt work in the wet (slightest moist and its ruined.

And pros and cons with grind:

Pros: pretty straightforward, lasts for months, works amazingly well in the wet, looks kinda funky, nothing to put on the rims all the time, pretty OK modulation (light grind), and great lockage. Also, mine's pretty silent.

Cons: Might ruin your rim, weakens the sidewalls, need technique and an angle grinder (or file or hacksaw).

Go grind!

if u put the wheel in a clamp and spinit then holf the grinder at a small angle thats good

if u just touch the grinder on then it should spin the wheel this will mean u get an even grind and no huge lumps out of the rim

aye, definitely cool for a light grind, but for heavier grinds I'd recommend the good old 'kneel on it and grind the fook out of it' approach

JUst learn to not drag the brake for manuals, everwise youll never get over bout 30 metres on the flat! If its a light grind ( like mine) and you dont drag the brake unnecesarily then your pads last ages and you can ride in the wet: only advantage of a grind.
