Dear all,

We are gutted to inform you that we have been broken in to at Radical Bikes at Barrow farm (near Chelmsford Essex).

The break-in took place last night (monday 13th).

We have had stolen the following items:

2 Onza 2009 T-Birds in black.

1 Onza Rip 2009 in white.

4 DMR Drone 24" jump bikes (2 black/purple and 2 blue/grey).

1 silver/blue Onza T-pro (old style with blue/black seat).

1 Onza T-bird grey with red bars and wheels (old style with red and black flame pattern on seat).

Also stolen Tom Mitchell's personal Trials bike - Onza T-pro - matt black frame, Echo rims and brake booster - all in dark green. Hope disc on the front and Magura on the rear with yellow pipework.

We have had all our hire helmets stolen which were Try-all - 2 black, 2 white. We also had 4 new boxed helmets taken - 3 Try-all helmets with a Tarty gel sticker on the back and 1 small white Bell helmet.

Please can you keep and eye out for any of these items being offered to you.

Please contact Michael Mitchell on 07771 637760. Thanks for your support.

Isn't this the second time this has happened?

And around the same time, of the year, funny how they get stolen near the end of the season.

Again.

Maybe its someone that rides there at the end of the summer?

Or someone that knows it will be quieter at the end of the season.

Yes Matt - this is the second time and we have considered the possibility that the thieves have visited us. Therefore, we have checked rider lists to see if there is a pattern and recorded suspicious vehicles too. All this information has been passed on to the police.

However, we think that the theft of our bikes and many other local thefts may have some connection with the fact that 18 months ago a group of caravans moved on to land under 1 mile away from us. They had no permission to be there and the local authority seem powerless to remove them.

In the meantime, we are seeking advice about our security and what measures can be taken before we replace anything again. Hopefully people will continue to keep a look out for our property.

We are not up for replacing it a third time and we think it would be sad for the Trials community to lose Barrow farm, but that is a possibility if we have further problems like this.

Our local motorbike club had the same problems with getting their bikes nicked so they had a steel cage wall with double padlocked door fitted inside the garage/storage unit to keep the bikes safe. Thieves solution? They stripped the bloody roof and lifted them out!

I've heard the combustion of refined alkanes from pentane (C5H12) to octane (C8H18) are something of a cure for that sort of problem.
