Mike, I'm guessing a 1.6 is no use to you? I'm basically only planning on making any real effort to sell the go-faster bits off my MX-5, so any mechanical bits you want you can have for very minimal cost. Hopefully it is just the cam cover gasket and you won't need anything though!

Nice pictures Nick and Jardo, looks like lots of fun!

Ok guys, just quick question for the people with turbo related knowledged.

Driving my ek9 earlier on, gave it a quick squirt in 3rd, come on boost just like normal, pulled like normal changed into 4th towards the top of the rev range in 4th it hit boost cut, dipped the clutch immediately, engine came back on everything was fine.

Then on the way home about an hour later went to give it another poke, comes on boost like normal but didn't seem to pull as hard as usual then towards the top end of the rev range it felt like it was losing power, tried again keeping an eye on my air/fuel gauge and boost gauge.

Air/fuel normal, boost had creeped to 1 bar (wastegate spring 8psi, normally creeps to 10psi at high rpm anyway)

I'll come out with you at brands.

See if we can get you lapping quicker than a northern man in an mx5.

Target time for Brands Indy please Adam

58.8!

Mike, that sounds promising. Hopefully it was just the lifters running out of pressure... Fill her up and try again. Things may be different when the oil warms up though - keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge, you need at least 3 bar when its hot and over 2.5k rpm, and should show at least 4 bar on idle when its cold.

If my engine turns out to be dead, yes, a 1.6 is exactly what I'll be replacing it with - is yours a 115bhp Eunos or a 90bhp MX5?

Yep fingers crossed! I was surprised when I started it up, hopefully it'll be OK after I've changed the oil, filter & gasket... We'll see.

Thanks again for the tips :)

It's an early UK car, so it is an MX-5 not Eunos, but it's the 115bhp engine. You're welcome to come have a look at it and rob anything you want off it, the postcode the car's at's TA20 if you want to check out distances, or I'll be in Bristol on the 21/22/23rd of this month. Just let me know, I've got a week off work in the run up to that weekend, so can easily unbolt stuff and bring it with me if I can get it in the Scirocco's boot.

Awesome, cheers mate!

One thing I do need actually is the idle speed control valve, if you still have it?

I've still got it, but I don't know if it works as the car's been running megasquirt for a couple of years not using it. You're welcome to it for free/postage if you want to give it a try though.

As you can see from video when i first turn car over and push the gas my revs are dropping then picking up. Any clues whats up, maby its the same issue thats causing it to drop bellow idle when slowing down and dipping the clutch.

Got it booked into garage end of the month to get it checked out.

But if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Whats up with it?

To add to my list of annoying problems, my car seems to love letting water in so now I have very damp carpet everywhere and steamed up windows nearly all the time. Time to get sexy with a hose this weekend and find a leak

Clutch blown up so it's going to a specialist, even including the fitting of 4x brand new callipers and clutch/gearbox fluids it's still cheaper than Mr Clutch :D

Get something called a Pingi for the car, it absorbs water and all you need to do is microwave it every now and then, I got BOGOF on amazon a while ago on the PingiXL and my car hasn't streamed or frozen inside since.
