That's a cool shot of Anglesey.

I gave the 924 a service and had an explore underneath it earlier. All looks good and solid underneath, I found one more little welded patch, but it looks solid if not particularly pretty.

I stumbled across what I'm pretty sure's the cause of the flat feeling fairly noisy engine: When I took the oil filler cap off the cam lobe directly under it was facing up and showing off the fact that the nose of the lobe is badly warn. That makes sense, I read that they could wear badly in a guide for adjusting the tappets, and it drives like it's got a super mild cam in it. £40 on ebay later and a good condition cam should be in the post to me tomorrow. Hopefully that should wake the thing up a bit and get it sounding and revving a bit sweeter. The oil didn't have anything metallic looking in it, it was pretty black, but generally smooth and healthy looking. I'll probably change it again in a few hundred miles just to flush everything through a bit. All 4 plugs were a decent golden colour, and as a bonus (well, maybe, it probably makes no difference) when I went to replace the air filter I found a k&n panel filter already in there, so that'll get a clean and go back in when I get a chance.

Wiring, bushes and engine mounts will be next on the cards as long as the new camshaft does the trick with the engine.

For £300 I can get a mohair one with glass screen fitted, sounds like I'll be better off doing that.

It's not ripped Adam, it's just got that usual vinyl shrink, meaning it leaks at the windows.

Plan.

Weird, never heard of that before...

In today's downpour, my car managed to completely fill the drain holes to the point I had water flowing out of the top of the seatbelt area pipe. Narrowly avoided flooding my new sub!

A quick wire down there unblocked it, but still, annoying. Coupled with the leaky roof, my drive home from work was a moist one.

Forgot to post this in here. The missus launching in the McLaren (first time I'd tried it too) and I think she might have set a record for the least reaction ever.

Gopro cover lens is badly scratched hence the warped and unclear image on the right. Hate that thing, it really is far behind modern devices.

Been looking round ebay for seatbelts for my caddy as the pretensioners have fired in mine. Spent weeks looking and can't find any for a 2k5. I ordered a pair from TPS at £260, which I didn't think was really that bad and was happy to pay really given the job they do.

Thought I'd organise an airbag and airbag module this morning then it's sorted other than the bodywork, I expected to pay £350-400 for the module + bag. First result was a 2k5 module, airbag and seatbelts for £185.

FML. I'll sell the second hand belts to hopefully pay for most of the other kit.

To cheer myself up I've bought some wheels for it

Briefly got to tow the Mk2 Escort today. It's supposed to be leaving for the nurburgring on Thursday night but it doesn't even run yet. Pretty touch and go to say the least.

The odd wheels on the back of the Volvo are because I was bored of having lots of rear end grip. :P

Had some really strange sounds coming of my Corsa this afternoon like a hollow metal tube being hit/scraped, repeating every 30 yards in a sort of explosion of little ping sounds. Drove just a little bit got out and checked wheels and underneath nothing that I could spot that might cause it. It went away of it's own accord but what could it be?

My friends '86 civic sounded slightly similar, found a loose heatshield above the exhaust and ripped it off, noise gone

Does anybody on here know which Op Com to go for? I want to fit cruise control but I don't fancy paying a dealer to activate it if I can buy Op Com for the same price or less.

Bought myself some Thule aero bars for the Astra this evening, now I don't have to take the bikes on the Porsche all the time :P I just need 2 more bike mounts to add to my other 2 and I can take a car load of people riding :)

What does white smoke on idle mean? Usually start after idling for a couple of minutes.

Usually just the build up of condensation within the exhaust being heated and thrown out as "white smoke", quite normal especially if its cold out.

Mine does it often as I let it warm up before I jump in and drive. Uses no water or anything linked that would otherwise produce white smoke/steam, so I've never been worried.

If its sat running on idle for a bit like you say, again mine does it.
