The Car Thread

The whole thing looks awful in my eyes, stupid doors or not. Car companies need to realise that styling which works on a saloon car doesn't automatically work on a crossover/SUV/softroader/handbagwithwheels. All the ones where they try and make them look like a normal car but tall look terrible to me.

Exhaust looks good Paul, it seems to be just about the only thing that hangs noticeably low on them, so it must be nice to have it raised up a bit.

Dan, those pedal boxes typically need the seat moving back about 300mm in hatchbacks, and the steering wheel more than just spacing out a bit. You may find you're not in an ideal position in relation to the cage too. Adams idea might be worth considering if you want an easier life. I converted the scirocco to hydraulic clutch in an afternoon using a welder and some mini parts, it's an easy enough job. Or as he says, a top swing box might work nicely. Have a look at mk1 and 2 escort ones, they may go in fairly easily. The floor mounted one would be cool if you're happy to work around it though. Good for weight distribution, just a big change to all the controls, not just the pedals.

I did some man maths before Christmas and sold my nice e61 525d, and replaced it with a tatty e36 318tds touring. I'm loving the thing so far. It's hilariously gutless, but nicely balanced, which I find makes an oddly satisfying combination. Mostly though its amazing not having to worry about every potential mark or ding like I would with the e61. It's worth sod all whether or not I've scratched the crap out of the interior trim carrying bikes and steel around, so I can just get on with using it. Plus having something a bit older and more connected feeling to drive has reminded me just how much I need to get the Porsche going again.

I should be having a move around at my unit soon, so will try and remember to take a few photos and do a bit of an update on that thing too, but there's not a huge amount to see yet.

HELP!!

Replaced the fuel pump on the TT 3 weeks ago.. everything was running fine, this week all of a sudden it is hammering through it!.. put fuel in last night. 225 miles on the range. Drove 32 miles since (super mega eco driving) and it's uses 75 miles worth!..

I know digital gauges aren't the best to go off but i can tell it's killing it just by the analogue gauge.

However mpg isn't that bad. Still hitting 31 on Avg.

Checked all the lines/connectors incase I'd split something. But all looks fine.

Pressure reg maybe? I'm lost.

In talks with my uncle in Bristol about a car he's had in for part exchange that needs some work.

1991 Honda CRX 1.6 VT VTEC

49k miles! Completely standard, mint for the most part but has had a little hit, hopefully something I can repair as they're becoming so rare and sought after now.

Mint for the most part meaning until you tap the sills and arches? lol

I like the CRX's, but they're mostly rotten now.

Nope, actually mint. All that lets it down is the damage caused by the bump. He (uncle) is a Honda nut too and knows what to look out for. He said he'd have loved to keep it for himself as he's never seen one in as good condition structurally for almost 10 years but he's far too busy with his dealership at the moment... and his current collection means he has no space haha (x2 JDM DC2 Integra Type Rs, 93' Accord, DC5 Integra Type R, JDM Ep3 Type R, NSX...)

All being well I'm collecting it in the last week of next month :D

Did you line the arrows on the pump sender unit and the tank? Sounds like the level sender isn't aligned properly.

There's a fine line here - it's all good fun until you're behind a Kia that decides to slow down before a hill, and then speeds up on the incline whilst you hammer it in 3rd just to maintain your current speed....

I came across a hill in Halifax recently that I could only get up in 1st gear.

All lined up fine :/ , Im gonna try fuse out reset later, if that fails take the unit back out and put it back in see if it makes a difference, the only thing now is I genuinely have no idea how much fuel is in the tank, I don't believe its as low as it says, 47 miles to 1/4 tank, the way ive been driving is definitely not right.

Looking at new cars at the moment (not new at all, 2nd hand). Currently my list of cars I'm considering is quite large, anyone got any views why I shouldn't consider any of the following?

Audi A3 - 04-07 roughly either 2L TFSI or 3.2

Audi A4/A6 avant - same as above

BMW 3/5 touring *25 or *30 petrol or diesel

Alfa Giulietta 1.4t (170) or 2 JTDM (175)

Alfa Brera 2.4JTDM (210) or 2.2 (182)

Golf gti - around 05 age

Thanks :)

Anyone have any clue if your rear washer not working is an MOT fail?
I had to cut the tubing to stop the leak in the car, and dont use it regardless.

Also just realised the 'New Reply In Thread - show reply' noise is off the old resident evil games. Survivor if i recall correctly.
