That is a seriously kind offer mate. Thank you very much. I'll get the parts ordered! Unless you can get them easier than me? Can pay you up front of course! Let me know matey

If you get the bits together, fire me a message across on the facebooks and we'll arrange a time.

Thanks for the kind words Mr Rainbird!

Special brew and it's a deal.

They've run out of it round here, Super Tennants OK instead?

I had someone follow me today and confirm that it's when I floor it that the smoke happens - anything it could be, other than pistons / rings? (Read as: I CBA to sort that problem, something easier would be great...)

Considering booking a track day at Castle Combe as it's mid-week and only £150.

It'll be my first track day, as I don't consider Curborough a proper track - one on at a time and it's low speed.

Slightly unsure about it because it's a mixed day, so everything from 106's to M3's and R32's will be on track. My car being significantly slower than some of the machines on track makes me a bit nervous, is that silly?

Done a few days now in my civics, all of which have been moderately modified to suit but by far and away not the fastest and it's still brilliant fun... don't worry about being the fastest.

Let the faster people past, and focus on your own driving from then on. You'll get a clear run at some point and have a whale of a time.

Is it an open pit-lane day Mike? I went along to an open pit-lane day there run by javelin recently and it was brilliant. Very relaxed, very safe and sensible with a great atmosphere and attitude from everyone. The action days and 'semi-open pit-lane days are a lot less relaxed as they put more cars on at once and you have the pressure of trying to get out in time for the next session. We were in my housemates 1.3 litre polo which is about 100bhp and 700kg and we weren't the slowest thing there. It definitely didn't feel like we were holding people up.

Ideal. Is it also a Javalin day? They were really good about having a chat with any beginners personally and making sure everyone was happy. They had a good balance of keeping things safe without being arseholes about it too. We instantly got chatting to the guys next to us and I don't think being on your own would matter too much to be honest, everyone was friendly and more than happy to chat to strangers and offer passenger rides. Obviously it's fun to have a friend along, but I can see how a mid week ones harder to get someone along to.

It's run by Slip & Grip Automotive, I saw it shared in an MX-5 group.

I've just booked it, as my mate with the turbo'd mk2 is up for it too.

I'm not fussed about being slow on track, it was more to do with the fact I'm new to it and there's a load of very fast cars on the lineup - I don't want to get in the way. Probably be fine, just first time nerves.

Anyway, all booked up now :D

It's a great atmosphere if run well, I've found most are pretty chatty... always good fun putting up a good show against cars that would otherwise seem to be in another league :P

Never had an issue with Javelin myself either, been very accomodating and willing to sort out any issues/confusion.

Dropped you a message Sam!

Tonight was a wiring night

Wired up the cut off switch properly. Wires will be going to ignition barrel as per fia requirements. I'm obviously not racing but I'm doing it properly.

I'm going to clean up the seats as best I can as they're a bit dirty then start fitting everything back in the car. Got myself a 1" master cylinder for the brembos too. Hopefully it will remove some sponge from the fronts.

I picked up a couple of films from being developed earlier, some of shots were car related:

My friend Ollys stunning Datsun 240z:

And some photos from the VSCC day at Wiscombe park. I know nothing about these vintage beasts, but they're bloody enjoyable to watch attacking a tight hill-climb at full-bore!

Thanks guys. They were all on a Minolta x500 with a 58mm f1.4 rokkor lense.

Mike, I'm not sure if you've been to Wiscombe before, but it's well worth it if you haven't. There's always good photo opportunities.

Engine removed for timing chain fitting, gearbox I had removed to take to someone to fit my B series helical LSD.. but I've since sold said differential and spent too much money on an MFactory 1.5 Way plated LSD

Id have upgraded in future anyway so, why not just do it once.

Their final drive kits are on offer too.. very tempted to go all out on DC5 4th 5th and 6th gears with a 4.9 final drive.
