"Michael, your new connection is active!"

And it's slower than the previous... Unlimited fibre compared to regular broadband. Hope that changes over the next few hours, as I really cba to argue with ISP's again.

They estimated 38-42mb, currently on 5mb. Upload is more important, as I want to stream at a decent bitrate.

Dunno to be honest, just appeared to be venturing round my mouth when I took a bite of my sandwich. My teeth are a train wreck anyway, I give them 2 years good before I have to have major work.

Do you see a dentist regularly? Worth also seeing a hygienist every 6 months. I had to have two crowns done last summer having not seen a dentist in a few years, was so nice to know everything was fixed-up and ok after that.

Total lie - yeah every few years..

Truth - no, I haven't been to the dentist for around 13 years, possibly more. When I was around 10 I had surgery to correct my teeth as the teeth either side of my fronts were at such an angle they wouldn't let my milk teeth fall out.

After that came about 8 years of surgery and braces etc. The final result wasn't good. I now have front teeth that protrude infront of the rest, the outer 2 have pushed back inward and squashed my fronts up to the point my fronts are now stepped too as there isn't enough space for them.

Overall I've never been that happy with my teeth and it's something I've just accepted is shit. I know it's pretty childish to think I'm not.going to the dentist as I hate it but f**k I hate it. Just over a year ago I decided to consider something like veneers or something so they're good for my wedding day but it never happened.

I was putting off going to the dentist in 2009 after many years of not going, and actually it was precipitated by some chunks of tooth falling out like yours did. It turned out not so bad and I realised that it doesn't necessarily have to be painful (although it can be expensive). Possibly worse than tooth decay is gum disease, and making small adjustments to brushing technique can work wonders for preventing that.

Bite the bullet (lawl) and go and have a check-up. That bit of tooth falling out is probably a sign that you're going to have to go sooner or later, and sooner will hurt less.

Pretty much. My 'fear' is the chain of events that will follow, I know.my front teeth are perishing as they have never grown properly, and what's probably supposed to be in the gum is actually exposed after a failed surgery so I guess that'll want taking care of and the chunk of tooth was from a broken tooth in the back of my mouth.

dentists are the worst...unless you get a a good one.

I must admit I have real anxiety about my teeth and dentists, when I was younger I was super stubborn and short sighted and didn't brush them all that often, combined with plenty of honey (my dad kept bees) and lots of sweet fruits meant that my teeth have always been a bit shit. I always found dentists to be painful so I put off going for a few years.

I eventually got a new nhs dentist and he was considerably better than any I had seen before...I never felt judged, he explained everything and it was (mostly) pain free, even with injections and a couple of tooth removals.

Unfortunately he left and I've had two replacement dentists since and they've both been worse than the last...I'm now considering swapping dentists.

Now I'm vlogging I'm really anxious about the colour of my teeth, I brush regularly but due to fillings, a fake tooth and general history they won't brighten without major work. I've deleted clips because I just hated how my teeth look.

I went to visit a private dentist to get a quote to totally fix my teeth and make them white again, it's totally amazing the technology available that the NHS can't afford to use...from digital anaesthetic to superior fillings and crowns...each person in this place I went to specialises in just one thing rather than being a jack of all trades. Unfortunately it IS expensive, to completely fix my teeth would include a couple of crowns, an implant, two root canals (repairing old ones), gum re-sculpturing, a couple of fillings and a whitening programme...it would come to £8000 :(

My anxiety is so much that I'm tempted to get on a payment plan and just have it done, at least I know my teeth are the best they can be going into the future.

The only time I was self conscious of my teeth was when I was around 13and I had no front teeth, braces and these 2 cotton pads stitched to inside of my front lip to keep the cuts and work clean. I've always looked after them and brushed regularly so I don't really have anything to pin it to, just guess I was dealt a shitty hand with teeth!

Yeah I haven't been either, since I was about 14/15 - I'm 34 this year.

I've never had any problems with my teeth, but I'm starting to notice that a lack of maintenance is showing signs of coming through. Still nothing major, but probably best I go for a check up before things get bad.

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm terrified of the dentist, which is the primary reason for not going. I too have looked after them fairly well, so it's been a case of "no pain, no dentist visit" for me.

Actually I was coming in here to rage about my arduino project that isn't f**king working. Possibly also due to me being unable to code. But when something does work it'll fail at something that, as far as I can see, is not my fault.

But now you got me all distracted about teeth. I should really visit the dentist again too, last one I went to nearly gave me a heart attack when she* told me that I'll need to have surgery to have a wisdom tooth removed that was absolutely fine before some fanny broke my jaw ten years ago. Apparently it's pointing forwards towards the other teeth and would have to be removed by a surgeon, not a dentist. And since the second operation to have the screws and plates removed (also 10 years ago) somehow didn't go great, (I haven't felt properly 'clear' in my head since, but of course the doctors think everything went fine. I caught them forgetting all the brain monitoring stuff as they were infusing all the anesthetics, so I can't say I trust them much.) I'm dreading that. I'd rather excruciatingly cut it out myself with a knife in front of a mirror than let anyone else do it.

*hint: Don't go to female dentists, I don't know one person who has found a decent one.

So thanks for directing my anger away from my arduino project I guess.

Another “haven’t been since I was 16” here, 31 now. It comes up now and again that I should go, and I should, but I don’t.

Similar to you Tom I gave up years ago and promised myself veneers when I could afford it. Probably best to just go see about private like Ali described and make the best of this bad lot...

Topsy - my bottom wisdom teeth are the same, had one out at hospital under general anesthetic but they refused to do both because the other one wasn't yet causing problems, which it inevitably would and has now.

I went to see a dentist before I left the country see if I could get into hospital to get the other one out and he was just like "I'll just take it out now" "I can just do it here" "yeah it'll be fine" practically ran out of that place, bloody cowboy. The amount of stitches in my other one and the potential for nerve damage suggests it's a fairly large job.

Related - when I did have the first one out they stitched my cheek over the hole in my gum, which was obviously wrong and tugged all the time and got infected twice, looked like American Dad it was so swollen. Ultimately took matters into my own hands when they wouldn't fix the stitches and plain old ripped them with a fair old amount of alcohol in me.

I think I last went to the dentist when I was 19 and now I'm 31. Problem is I still have two of my baby teeth and they're looking a bit off colour these days. I really should make an appointment.

That's mental that people wait 15 years! I've always gone twice a year since I can remember, thought that was just standard, I always brushed well but I ate and drank a lot of shit growing up like we all did, luckily they've naturally always been ok and most of the problems are out of sight. Best short term thing you can do is stop drinking fizzy sugary shit, Red Bull, Coke, Monster, Rockstar, it's all basically liquid cancer, despite how sick/rad/cool the stickers look. The people I've known with the worst teeth all love a fizzy drink.
