my TDF and Langster. had the fixie since 08; as standard except for superstar pedals + mudguards... i'm really pleased with it!

tdf was a skanky bargain, put some carbon bars + forks on it, got a brooks saddle coming soon too.

I know there's connotations of old Marzocchis with black stanchions but these Pikes are so good it's not an issue. I personally, when going for an all black theme was really pleased when they released them with black stanchions as it complimented the look and looks better than Rockshox's typical colour. Also I'm not that enamoured with Fox's Kashima coating, it's a bit of a swizz and the last two years 34 generation forks have been absolutely awful. I've ridden a few and they're just terrible and considering they cost £500 more than the Pike's I'm happy to stay well away from Fox for the foreseeable future.

My old marzocchi bomber am4's had black stanchions, think they were 160m travel with a 20mm through axle. They were loads better when I changed the oil from 7.5 to 10wt

Been meaning to get some pictures up of my rig.

Kona Cinder Cone.

Used as my commuter to work. Forks have been locked out the whole time as theyre horrible to ride with otherwise.
Suprisingly fun. My £60.00 Shimano Acera brakes have been awesome too. I ride like a tit doing warp speed in most places and despite the tiny 160mm rotors they have a good amount of stopping power behind them. Modulate nicely for those long downhill stoppies and coaster wheelies

Most of its a bodge. Front axle is one bodged in from another hub that barely fits, outer front chainring is f**ked from riding trialsy on it and the chainset has seen better days.
Cost me all of £150 though so I cant complain.

Conti race kings are scary! I hate mine, always looses grip in the wet on tarmac..

What caliper have you got hooked up to that Echo lever? Is it an MT2??

Magura Louise caliper, been years since I bled brakes and took a few goes to get right, after a bit of advice from the god of tarty it is now bled to the point it's too good, instand bike with 5mm of lever move.

In progress at the moment, just waiting for the wheels to be built and it needs cables & chain and its running. Really happy with it so far for a lightweight XC bike, and its only set me back 30 quid at this point.

2010 boardman comp fi frame, raceface ride xc cranks, magura mt140am forks (weigh nothing :o) slx mechs and shifters, spoon saddle, hayes brakes (needs upgrading i think), charge spoon saddle, comancial bars and a bike hut stem ( race face ride xc stem needed i think to match the cranks.) specialised hubs on dt swiss xc rims.

I'll grab some pics of my steel hard tail trail bike later thats deffo been pimped now :)

Set at 140 yeah they are a little high, luckily they are adjustable between 100 & 140 i think. My trail bike is the same though geo is for 100mm travel forks and i have RS Tora's set at 140 and its great, a little back wheel happy at times, but ride smooth and it loves it.

Here's a pic of my latest purchase which should be with me next week. It's the first full susser I've ever had so not sure how it'll ride but from the reading up I've done I should be in for a treat.

I really hope you didn't spend a penny over £35 for that, there's old skool and then there's that.

If it's just a school day commuter (not sure why you'd pick a full-susser for that) then okay, but I wouldn't be looking at it to be any sort of well suited MTB. The suspension will be wildly out of date and shot by now so not very efficient. The geo and set up as it is won't make it very nice to ride. Steep head angle, stupidly long stem & V-brakes.....not an ideal recipe.

Don't worry I'm not expecting it to be on par with a modern day bike. And as for the price I can safely say the brakes alone will fetch a lot more than £35 so there is no worries on that front.

The main thing is it'll do for what I want currently and is also easy to upgrade to a semi decent trail bike and the frame will last forever. Whilst I have technically bought it on a whim it wasn't without a bit of knowledge on the subject.

Change of plan for me, the guy who was supposed to be selling me the FSR has been fannying around for over a week now with sorting a box to post so I've told him I no longer want it as I have made a deal on this beauty (well most of it!). Getting everything except the wheels and brakes for £140 though the guy selling has a set of non disc wheels and V's I'm awaiting a price on to get me on the road straight off and he's not far from me so I can collect it!
