The title says it, i'm stuck between chosing two diferent bikes. The new inspired Arcade or the skye(not necesseraly the new team blue).

I am really looking forward the Arcade but I always end up only hearing talking of how good is the skye... Like in that article : http://www.tribalzine.com/?Tribal-Zine-tests-the-Inspired,4798

I'm looking for the bike that would help me the most learn manuals and 180's and 360s , well the one that spins and manual the best. I know that the reach of the Arcade will be 2.5mm longer than the fourplay. I'm not very tall, i'm 5.35foot tall, so yes pretty small. So would the skye be better because its shorter. I know its hard to judge because the arcade isnt realesed yet. But an estimation would be nice, because i'm really stuck. I currently own a 2011 fourplay and would say that my riding is 75% more bmx'y horiented.

Having ridden both, I'd say the arcade feels more bmx orientated. The Skye I've ridden was standard so with the cut down fork steerer and hope stem, so i found the front end felt far too low. As the arcade is steel that also contributes massively to the bmx feel.

Personally I'd go with the Arcade. Ali/Mark will be able to give a more detailed reply as they have more experience with the bikes.

Having had a wee go on both last night, it would be hard to choose!

The Skye has a much shorter cockpit and a lower bb which felt ok but I prefer a longer reach and the feeling of being over the front axle more, which the Arcade delivers.

I have to say though, the Skye blue is thee best paint job Ive seen! So in terms of looks, I’d go for the Skye.

Can you Manuel, 180 and 360 your 4play?

Any bike can be ridden like this. The bikes not really going to be the thing holding you back, you just need to put the time in and learn what you want to learn.

Put in the hard years on the bike you have now, when you step onto one of these bikes it will help you and you will progress faster.

that is a very fair point, but if he was already looking at new bikes hes taken a good two to choose from, if you have the money i would go for it.

but as said, these skills can all easily be learned on your current bike

No i'm not able to 180 or manual with the fourplay, for the 180 it feels like i dont lift enough , i'm doing more like a 90 hop, the front doesnt lift.. :( but i have the money for the change. I wont buy a complet one tough, i'm ether buying the skye framekit or the arcade framekit.. And i mean would a bike with a smaller reach be better for a smaller rider?

what stem are you running?

EDIT: dont worry hope, i saw your pic, maybe a higher front end would do it? get some 3" risers on there and get a short steep stem. if that doesnt work try the frameset but im certain this will help you

Swings and roundabouts as both bikes will ride nice you clearly aren't that bothered about geo (If you was bothered about the geo of a bike you would already have your answer) People comparing a factory standard Skye to a team riders personal setup bike is a little silly in my opinion. A factory build Arcade will probably come with a shorter front end and the factory Skye won't have the new shape handlebars (On the one at Tartydays)

Personally I find the attention to detail Inspired have gone with on the Arcade from the dropouts all the way up to the headtube. I would say the only flaw against a Skye would be the weight, Agreeing with Ross on the reach of the frame being a big plus for me aswell as horizontal dropouts.

At the end of the day it's your call mate, I'm just making the point that if you can't 180 the 4play you probly won't be a ole to 180 either bikes above straight away.

I just want you to know it's not just the bike, yes some bike are easier to 180/360 etc on. You might be disappointed spending big and not getting results.

I for one don't really care if you get any of the bikes above. I'm just trying to give you some advice, I am waiting for the arcade to come out aswell, they are the perfect bike to suit what I want I a street bike.

Your asking about geo, as said short stem, tall bars is what you want.

Can you post a video of your 180attempts, some of us might be able to point you in the right direction. As I said learn them now while your waiting for these bikes. That way when you step onto these bikes you will be confidence and when you land them it'll be a bit of an ego boost, this can help you justify getting the bikes.

Me :) Because most people immediately think 'wheelbase' when anyone uses the word 'long' or 'short' in the same sentence as 'bike'.

From memory the BB to bars dimension on the Arcade is longer, but the wheelbase on the Skye is longer. So which bike is longer?

I dont think anyone knows (who hasnt ridden Ali or Marks bike) just how f**king short these arcades are!

Good luck hoping on the back wheel!

Sure you're not just thinking of your Archive there bearing in mind 1) the Arcade has a steeper head angle so consequently a slightly longer reach (which is the important bit...) and 2) no-one who's ridden one has had a problem backhopping (or 'hoping' if you prefer) on it?

Well you've read about the old Skye, with the improvements on the new one it's gonna have a stiffer front end, pretty bombproof, and the back end is obviously down from 380mm, probably around 360mm. So call it a 970wb instead of the old 990 assuming the front end hasn't changed. The Arcade ain't gonna have a shorter wheelbase than that., and people are saying the reach is longer too.

Being pretty short so you might find a Skye front end more manageable.

That's all on paper obviously, I'd love to ride both.

So i dont know any one who could pass me is skye or arcade when they come out and there wont be any as far as i'm aware
