Possible trials park

The local council may have a piece of land I can use for a trials park. I'm meeting with them within the next month. Anyone help me out on where I stand with insurances and so on. I can get obstacles and other things. The land is a fair size and there is maybe the possibility of a small office in a container.

In regards to insurance and that see if you can find out info on local skates parks and how they are run, insured , maintained etc.... You could basically base most of a trials park on the back of that... Obstacles etc, council may give you funding or ask local businesses if the would donate or sponsor etc....

Quick update. Still got the land. Told the council to bog off. They wanted every kid in the area to use it for free and on any bike. Basically babysitting.

Got the keys and permission for the land. I now need obstacles. Can anyone help with this?

I don't really want to put anything up till it's open mate and that's a while off. Insurance must be sorted before anyone can ride and that is a big expense so won't be put in place until there is plenty of stuff to ride.

A mate of mine used to have a north shore park on his own land they put together and bought a bit of woodland.

they just put up signs on every way in, "no trespassing private property"

and when you rode it the only rule was anyone crashes you have drag them over the road and call in a rta(road traffic accident) so the trails were never taken down for being dangerous.

There is a local club to me in Peebles that have a barn set up to teach kids trials run by very enthusiatic club members. They cant get insurance anywhere except like we do for comps. but that then gets very expensive if you ride alot. The council have a blanket liability insurance that covers parks and alike and some council back schemes up here piggy back onto that. BUT I have heard that it is only viable if you have a commercial venture as it can be into many tens of thousands. I have still not heard anyone that has a solution to this. Other than you bend yourself its your fault and take the risk? Good luck with it, it needs people like you and others to get these things going
