New 24" - Ozonys Iron

I see some pretty positive comments without explanation leading me to believe you have all just seen a picture of a pretty bike and liked the colour?

I imagine this is just a prototype for now in some what of a rush after making the worlds worst looking/geo'd steel trials frame I have ever seen!

Adding on the ozonys logo booster thing looks cool but is hidden by the saddle anyway especially with a low seat tube.

NO DISC BRAKE BRACE? (must be counting on his magura calipers snapping before his frame gets any stress  )

It does have a small brace but I think it's more for looks than actual strength,

and I don't think it'll be mouch of a big seller when the manufacturer says it's expensive. One and a half times the cost of the frame just for the finish?????!!!!!!

Blown away. Ozonys is definitely on a roll.

I know....how do they keep coming up with it?

*Oznoys business meeting*

"Bonjour"

"Bonjour"

"What are Inspired doing at the moment"?

"Oh really, does it look good?"

"Oui"

"Shall we get a comparatively-cheap, missing-the-point-sort-of-alternative-shitted-out-as-quickly-as-possible?"

"Oui"

"What if Dave Cleaver gets angry, you know how those Englishmen can be"

"C'est la vie"

"ohn, ohn, ohn"

How is this a rip off though? There's nothing unique or special about Inspired bikes so I'd consider any arguments about companies copying them pretty weak. Inspired came up with the street-trials geometry and general concept of a street-trials bike and that's about it - just like Montessa did years ago with trials bikes, but you don't hear people complaining that every single trials frame on the market is a Montessa rip off.

I think it's more the fact it's a steel street trials bike

Well, the Ozonys Styl is steel and that was released about 9 months ago if I'm not mistaken. The Leesons were steel too, is the Arcade a Leeson rip off then?

My point is that you can't say something is a rip off with such a generic design unless there are unique solutions implemented throughout the frame. Rip offs we know of - Coustellier > Zoo Piranha, Koxx XTP > Czar Ivan. This is far from a rip off, it's just a double triangle frame made from a material commonly used in bikes.

you're missing the point a bit m8888888888888888888888888888

If I am then tell me what it is :P I find this subject rather interesting. There's no doubt competitors keep a close eye on Inspired since it's the market leader but that's common practice with businesses everywhere. Perhaps a mod can split the thread so we can continue this discussion without hijacking the thread?

People are getting at the point around 4 months after the arcade has come out, ozonys have released a steel street trials frame with what looks like a very steep headtube and very bmx influenced design.

It took inspired ages to come up with this idea and design and yada yada yada I can't be bothered

I don't think you're missing it at all - fully agree with the Leeson comment too being their biggest advocate since 2004 :P

I think everyone just sees Inspired as the benchmark these days, unless another company betters them it'll always be seen as a copy by the majority of riders - shame really! Having said that, i'm yet to see anything that can compete - always seems to be some weird aspect of geo or design choice, such as the seat tube being too short. Every. f**king. Time.

dito.

I'm actually fed up with all those people screaming "Naaaaah, one more company tries to reach for Inspireds crown! Weak work.. bla bla bla.. copy here, copy there".

Sometimes I even get angry when I see a company coming up with a decent 24" frame and I'm excited to see what is about, I look at it and it somehow looks really different to those which already are on the market and right in the first comments you see people complaining about all those 24" being rip offs.

Just because companies jump on bandwagons like the steel-trend (which might actually started by inspired, to be fair.. well, not even that) doesn't mean they are just doing the exact same thing.

NOTHING I can see here is somehow similiar to an Inspired. They just used steel.

What's the point anyway, in the end Marino started using steel in the first place.. even before danny made Inspired famous in 09..

All steel 24" are Marino rip offs... ?!

When OMEN came up with their frame it was exactly the same.

I got mine and couldn't help but didn't find one single similarity, even though the geo is not that different to some older fourplays. But then it has so many features that Inspireds didn't have back then. The complete rearend/dropouts were different.

Nobody really got to see one in person but everybody immediatly screamed it was just a rip off because no company ANYWHERE on this planet is allowed to built bikes/frames similar to inspireds anymore..

Had to be said, sorry.

Just my opinion.

I now continue to ride my Marino, which, of course, is an Inspired rip off.
