quick 24 Trialtech fork questions

Hello guys, I just have a quick question

It seems that my forks tube is a little bit wider at the bottom,as when I tried to drop the bottom headset cup, it got stuck 1 cm from the very bottom, so did my spacer. I greased the cup, and now, with every bunny hop, I need to tighten the bolt, so it will be stiff and not moving.

Questions of the day:

Is it normal?

What should I do, get a hammered get a hammer just hammer the bottom cup down nicely until it wont move?

That silver bit keeps on the left keeps it all central in relation to the steerer tube.

The bit that you have stuck needs to be "gently persuaded" down to the bottom, it can be done but overtightening the bolt however it's not good for the bolt, or the threads on the starnut. Hammer/screwdriver can work but can slightly damage the race, a larger tube that sits over it is ideal but it can be hard just to have those things lying around :)

After made a call to onza i must buy a new headset

Okay so just to make everythingclear

I need the compression ring to the very bottom qt the steerer tube

Then the silver cup connecting to.the headset

Headsets then top cup and cap

Am i right?

I might be able to make the compression ring from a headset.spacer btw

Edit:

After looking at the headset spares on tarty a little modification

I have both the cups, with the bearing inside them

These cups has covers(wedges?) i have both of them

I am missing the crown race, a ring that has a whole in it so you can compress it

The bottom wedge/ cover stucks on the steerer tube and i dont have a crown race

What to do?

well make it easier for everyone, get a picture, label every part with a number and an arrow on paint, and go from there.

or go on this;

to start addressing things, your crown race wants to be hammered all the way down to the bottom of your forks, find a tube with a greater diameter than your steerer, i used to use a car-jack stand and hammer my forks into the crown race. you could always get a bikeshop to do it if your unsure.

just checked:

I have every part, bearings, cups, crowns, compression ring and crown race as well

Now I need to hammer the crown race to the bottom of the steerer tube. How should I do it if I dont have any larger tubes?

If I would use a spanner, that is larger than the steerer and sits on the crown race, and just hammer would it be good?

The crown went down as low as this, now it needs a proper hammering

Chop the fitting end off an bmx stunt peg a basic steel one the remaining part can be used as a headset crown setter.

if the crown still is way too tight, cut a slot into the crown race with a hacksaw so it expands over the fork.

basicly convert your unslotted crown race into a slotted one much like hope use.
