Disk brake hose for rim brakes?

Recommended Posts

Using barbed fittings would be fine as there's no worries about leaks though the bore size of the hose will affect how good the brake is. I was going to get some of the Unex braided hose for mine years ago but was put off it as I got told it was smaller than standard magura hose which means the fluid can't travel through as quickly and so it makes the brakes feel sluggish.

No really, they didn't :P

If you're trying to use barbed fittings with hose made for disc brakes, it won't work (safely). If you are buying all the relevant fittings to attach said hose to the brake properly then it will work, but be expensive and the brake will feel sluggish.

If you desperately want coloured hoses, Google heatshrink.

My local bike shop fitted my HS33 with a disk hose recently. I've had nothing but problems with it, It just gulps in air from nowhere! I'd stick with standard hoses if i were you.

Did you ask them to use a disc hose? If not i'd take it back and tell them to change it for a proper magura hose.
