I love your riding but man your bitch cranks in spins take back from some of the stuff you're doing. If you could do these spins without them I'd like you even more (especially if you began to spin regular too haha)

What do you mean with cranks and spin regular (the other way around?)

I'm [very] slowly attempting to address both of these.

I fully agree that bitchless looks better, but I just can't muster the force for a lot of those I try - especially the ones like that at Lee Mill.

Pushing hard enough to clear the distance just makes me loop out. I wish I was good enough to control the pressure, but I'm not, and would rather do the line with a bitch than not do it at all ;)

I play around with oppo spins too just because I want to be able to do both, but they just feel rank and never work out well :P Can sometimes just about get 180s. Haha.

Whilst I understand where you're coming from with the bitch cranks, I really don't understand your beef with goofy spins. It's just turning the other way...

Is it a style thing? I don't have a great style for that part of riding anyway, so don't expect it to get any better if/when I mange to get them going oppo too ;)

It's just that trials tends to make people spin goofy out of habit rather than because it's better. It just seems like something that can be easily fixed but people either don't care enough to want to do that or simply don't know they're doing it opposite.

I saw I was spinning goofy and I wasn't happy about it plus I wanted to future proof my riding so I forced myself to spin the other way. It's things like that, its the same as having too many hops when doing a line, if you can do it better then that should be the ultimate goal.

That's sort of what I mean... Why is regular "better" than goofy?

I understand it's [edit:] better easier if you're putting whips/bars/other shit in with it, but on their own I can't see why spinning towards your front foot is less valid than spinning away from it.

Ryan Nyquist has spun opposite 720's his whole life, does that mean someone who spins the other way is better?

I think Ali was getting at it looking nicer when people spin regular - Ryan Nyquist's not exactly known as being a stylish rider...

I does look smoother yeah, but like Flipp said, if it's just a 360, it makes no difference to anyone but style snobs. I'd love to be able to go regular, but it's never gonna happen, I can live with that.

Ali just makes it sound a bit like an illness we should all be treating asap

If someone spins a regular 720 it will probably look quite a lot nicer than Ryan's, that said it's not like people can't spin goofy and look good.

It's the whole "un-written rule" thing. Not everyone will get or agree with them but it's very strong in the BMX world. Spinning the regular way just looks nicer when linking things up.

It's not just a 360 though, it's much more than that. It's looking at things as a whole and deciding if you want to stick with how things are or searching for perfection. I'm not saying my riding is perfect btw, its far from it but from a personal satisfaction viewpoint I'd be annoyed with myself if I was doing things that could hinder me in the future.

Yeah for bunnyhops I definitely wish I kicked the back out the other way, even for landing spin drops it helps, but yeah as a solo move, it's obvious when someone's opposite, but I think the style is more important than which foot's forward.

It's just an opinion, people liking or not liking what they see. I like watching opposite stuff because you don't see it as much and it's more awkward to do. If it was a real issue, everyone would learn it the other way.
