Inner tubes

also they weigh more, so its basically a normal tube that weighs more if you think about it. they'll snake bike + pinch flat exactly the same as a normal tube, and i pinched a slime tube 3 days ago and it just squirted everywhere inside my rim + tyre so there's no point using them for trials if that all makes sense? :)

yeah that does make sense :)

I only run slime in my HD tubes on the DJ bike simply because I ride woodland tracks and stony paths, so I would prefer not to have to walk 4 miles if I can ride back ;)
I know if it does burst beyond the slimes repair then it will possibly ruin the inside of the tyre as well, but to be honest the Maxxis High Roller super tacky wears quite quickly anyway (going for a harder compound at the rear)

I will fit heavy duty tubes to what ever trial bike I get when I need to replace tubes :)

if you get an Inspired or street trials bike you probably wont need downhill/heavy duty tubes, the pressures are a lot higher than "pure" trials bikes. but i had the exact same thoughts as you did about heavy duty tubes... it doesn't matter that much trust me :P also you never need a heavy duty tube on the front, don't do it!

EDIT: dont buy halfords tubes and you'll be fine, there shite basically :P

I run poundland tubes, with various tyres

on the front of my mod, I ran it at very low pressure, and it was surprisingly good!

Now I use it on 24 inch Holy rollers, and while at low pressure they seem to loose pressure quickly, around 2.5 bar they hold up really well

Only problems are thorns and stuff but then again, show me a (reasonably priced tube for trials) that can survive a 3 cm thorn while someone is on the bike...

(I am not a heavy user, it should help too)

I Do use sime... but I live in the desert and more than half of the plant life has flat tire potential. AND tire pinch flats if pressure is too low... (although still no pinch with my der Kaiser) so slime helps with all the small punctures that happen whenever you leave the concrete. And I do ride a lot of concrete haha. And regular tubes, I found that heavy duty/DH tubes are more problems than gain (only on my trials bikes- they seem to need a bit higher pressure to stretch out and keep the tire on the rim) and no match for the thorns of the area so are a waste of weight.

imo its all aboutthe tyre you use and the pressures you use that determines how many snakebites and punctures you get. i run halfords tubes and have done for a while now and use a slicked tryall tyre that has a fair bit of canvas showing, have it at a slightly higher pressure than normal and i hardly ever get punctures and im a fat f**ker who can be harsh as shit at times. only time i get punctures is trying gap to fronts and hitting my tyre right on the edge or trying gaps when i land on the corner of the object. in all honesty i think ive punctured my halfords tyre less time than when i was running my kenda DH tyre
