you go and start your own company and get your frames made to a high standard, low quantity and a good price and then tell us what should and shouldn't be faced for what price.

I'm fed up of you telling everyone what should and should be done when you've been riding trials less than most. and have no clue.

Fair enough. My Echo came faced though.

edit: Since when does having a clue about bikes/bike parts have to do with knowing how to ride trials?

Chances are that your echo came faced by the shop you bought it from.

I asked the shop owner. He didn't face it but told me that he got it faced from Echo.

You do moan about faaarking everything though.

Because just about every trials part I had in my hands doesn't come close to the standards you would expect in normal MTB riding. That's where my origins are and that's why I'm surprised by the high prices and the low quality. Not saying that an Arcade frame is low quality. I'd just expect things like facing to be normal for a high priced product as it is.

Trials is an extremely niche sport, with low manufaturing units despite a (comparatively) high number of manufacturers. If the same amount of R+D went into trials components as do the rest of cycling components, the prices we have to pay would be even higher.

I'm not saying this is a good thing, but it's the way it is - whether you complain about it in every Trials-Forum thread or not

With the echo frame coming face, are you sure it's faced, not just the machining work when they made the head tube?

If you look at most bikes the head tubes and bb's are faced when manufacturing the components. The head tubes are machined out to have a nice interference fit with headsets.

All the frames have a concentric and flat face on these areas. Some might distort during welding, these are more likely alloy frames which have a lot of welding on them.

Facing head tubes and bb isn't really required these days because most is done before welding, it's more of an old school method to bring older frames back into a good working order.
