Hashtagg freewheel - worth it?

Greetings

The cnc'd Hashtag version and the above drilled out styles both bring worry to me. They bring out a good idea and spoil it by overly trying to save weight or just make it look fancy for the sake of it. Those cranks without the drilled holes would be sweet!

Lightweight cranks in "broken when ridden hard" shocker. This is the point I keep trying to make, riders need to choose products that suit their riding rather than buying the fanciest looking or lightest. This is the only way we'll end up with a reliable choice of components, because manufacturers will only keep making the light stuff if that's all that sells.

It's a percentage game. Ads can bash, but he can also get his smooth UCI tech on too. If your "harsh b*****d" to "smooth customer" ratios are all good you can try lighter stuff, but if not you can't. Those dudes do a lot of big drops in their shows which isn't really ideal if you're running super light parts.

I have a friend who was doing drops to flat, landing pretty harshly all the time. Did that one whole summer and he was wondering why he went through his rear rim, cranks and frame....

And he wasn't riding extra light parts.

Well I guess Racing Line will give details about those broke cranks.

And for the # freewheel, sorry we went away with this thread but I don't know has I haven't tried it.

I think there are no freewheel except of ENO and no freehub except of HOPE.

Wow, this takes me back. My ENO was a nightmare, the final straw in the search for a reliable freewheel.

BB30's are off the list but I kind of wonder what it'd be like to ride such a stiff setup.

Have been running a King for 10 years now (still perfectly reliable) but since I have to change the rear rim and cranks, I'm only a freewheel and hub away from completely changing the drivetrain to something that could feel better to ride.

By the way Adam, I weighed some Hashtagg BB30 cranksets and they came out at 804g and 774g without bashrings. Quite different to your results. Perhaps they've changed the design.

Today's trials market is simply ridiculous. All the new "innovative and lightweight" stuff looks god awful, and breaks too quickly whilst also costing too much for what it is.

Any company gonna go to slightly heavier stuff thats revised, manufactured properly with actual sympathy? no, because everyone wants a 0.2kg lighter bike.

Not "all" new innovative/lightweight stuff breaks. There are manufacturers who are making lighter, stronger stuff, but the "problem" is that people buy shit parts from shit companies because they just look at the weight and price of things without really taking anything else into account.
