Wearing glasses whem riding

12 posts in this topic

Alright you spectacle wearing bastards, I've got to wear glasses in my old age, how do you go on with glasses when riding? Do they usually hang in there pretty well or will I be needing a shoe string around me neck?!

my hipster frames stay in place pretty nicely. but it depends of course on how wild you get.

if my glasses are to loose, i bend the end part of the earpiece a little tighter towards my ears (a little heating up can help)

if you get some that fit you properly they should be no problem. mine are pretty thick and heavy so, they need to be pretty tight to the side of my head to stay put. this does make slight sores, so i tend to tweak them back out when im wearing them normally

Like Dave said get contacts, or prescription riding specs

I have glasses, as you know. Fine, until you sweat.

Once you sweat, they fall down your nose and generally get very annoying.

I think as an easy solution I'm just gonna try a lanyard type attachment, but in the long run (ie next summer) I'm going to get some MTB glasses in prescription.

I can't get on with contacts, so have to wear specs.

Contacts seem the thinking mans choice. Otherwise...

Depends on the type of glasses you go for.  I always go for ones that have got decent adjustment on the little nose pieces, and decent stems (or whatever they're called).  I get them fitted properly at the opticians, then generally just tweak them (carefully!) by hand to get the fit right so they stay in place.  I did a month of MTBing in NZ in 30°C heat last year and didn't have a problem with them moving, and on my Arcade they're spot on too.

Yeah that's where mine fail. No adjustment, they're just plastic hipster frames.

Well it turns out specsavers got my prescription wrong, by a significant amount. I'm spectacle free!

I don't like glasses so much. Because it is reduce the radius of my view and it can slide down. So I prefer to ride without it to feel myself more comfortable and to save slots in my riding bag
