Just makes me think of this: And not so much because of the fork brake mounts being on the back (that's been around for ages) but the whole odd bar positioning thing. That'll flex away from the frame under braking putting a huge amount of stress on the mounts as well as not feeling as positive as it would have been if it was mounted the usual way. It's exactly the opposite. In trials the rear brake stops the wheel from rolling backwards. Therefore having a brake mounted underneath makes it act like a wedge. The only time this is ever going to be of any benefit it if you're landing in the rear wheel from something like a rolling gap and when your rear wheel hits the landing the bike would have to be past vertical. Wheels and steering are done-away with in the interests of saving weight. Instead I introduce the concept of frame 'legs', a fixed one at the front, a spring-loaded and hinged one at the rear. Each of the legs has a small rubber 'hoof' attached for grip. The first version had an upright 'handle stalk' arrangement not much different to what you might find on a micro-scooter, but for a more contemporary approach I have opted here for some Raleigh Chopper bars. Yes it does, but 90% of the time when you land on an obstacle and your brake doesn't hold, you're going to roll backwards. Notice how a poor brake usually makes you slip off things. cwtrials Posted April 6, 2017 Report Share Posted April 6, 2017 I think it looks pretty amazing. Bar angle isn't my cup of tea, but these are pictures of Vincent's bike, and that's how he rolls. Having the brake mounts shoved up next to to double seat stays should really help reduce flex too, at least it seems so thinking about.
