  1. My friend done it some years ago (~8). Tube is hold by interference fit, nothing interesting here. However getting old tube out and fitting new one might be a little tricky. Thermal expansion and hydraulic press is your friend here. You'll have to get new steerer tube and decide on material steel or aluminium and wall thickness, I don't remember if aluminium is strong enough. And of course there is always a possibility that you wont get tight enough fit and steerer tube will become loose after some time. Sorry for lack of details but it was long time ago. You can always choose to send it to someone who does it professionally. I've googled one guy who does it in Poland for 20-50 pounds depending on material and diameter of steerer tube.
  2. Hey, you can even replace whole steerer tube, alongside with broken headshock suspension and convert old broken fatty fork from headshock to rigid.
  3. Great. To get things consistent you should specify with which fork geometry was measured. Rake and fork height are important. Also, do you want us to post different bike geometries here?
  4. Ohh this millennium. I'd say, steady progress in direction of trials specific frames. Shorter chainstays, little higher bottom brackets, longer wheelbase and of course shorter seat tubes. Just look at the bikes from 2000 http://www.davedennis.freeservers.com/bikecandy.htm That's for stock bikes, I've never rode mod but it's probably the same http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?year=2002&brand=Monty&model=219+X-Hydra I don't think that progress in brakes was essential. Sure it's nice to have more stopping power, but even back in the 90s with proper technique brakes wasn't the limiting factor. Modern freewheels are great too, no need to buy Chriss King hubs that costs arm and leg, or shittier Shimano silent clutch or generic ones which would explode every two months. Modern freewheels made trials more affordable, however it is more of convenience than progress in terms of pushing trials forward.
  5. Balloon tires and getting rid of engine out of motorcycles.
  6. I havn't seen it posted on trialnet.pl forum. Since I'm thinking on taking up trials again after long hiatus it got me wondering, Polish forum is pretty much dead, isn't it?
  7. That's the problem. I'm not running any particular frame. I'm designing myself a frame and I need to make sure that chainstay isn't too short.
  8. I need real diameter of 24" tire. Maxxis high roller 24x2.50 on Trialtech 47mm wide rim would be ideal, but I will be happy with other combinations as well.
