The bashplate on a Zona Zip A bashplate is a piece of metal attached to the frame of a bike that sits below the bottom bracket. Its purpose is to absorb impacts that would otherwise damage the frame itself, it does this with a block of rubber which is held between it and the bottom bracket. Bashplates are normally found on mod bikes, but not stock bikes.
