  • Adamant - a bike manufacturer.
  • Ashton - a bike manufacturer.
  • Avid -a manufacturer of cable and hydraulic disk brakes.

  • Base - a bike manufacturer.
  • Bashring - a small metal disc, slightly larger than the front chainring, which protects the chainring from damage.
  • Bottom Bracket - The small axel that runs through the frame to secure the cranks. Avalible in ISIS and Square taper.
  • BIU - one of the governing bodies of competitive bike trials. See also: UCI
  • BT - A Polish bike and component manufacturer

  • Cable - As opposed to hydraulic braking, this type of brake uses strong metal cables that run through similar to hydraulic hose. Pressure is put on the brake lever pulling the cable and actuating a caliper(s) so that it moves the pad onto the rim/disk.

  • Deng - Owner of Echo, Adamant, CZAR, Zoo! and GU
  • Dengura - The adopted name given to the Echo hydraulic brake/ I mixute of the words Magura (major hydraulic rim brake in use) and Deng
  • Disc brakes - a type of brake which uses a rotor or disc connected to the wheel hub which has two pads either side of it which, when the lever is pulled, puts large pressure on the disk from either side causing friction as opposed to putting pressure on the wheel rims.

  • Front to back - A technique in trials where the rider switches from balancing on their front wheel, to balancing on their rear. Usually done on thin objects like rails.

  • Gap - a distance to be jumped/hopped over.
  • GU - a bike Manufacturer

  • Hope - A largely popular component company specialising in disk brakes and hubs.
  • Hydraulic - A type of braking system that forces a liquid through strong hosing in order to push cyclinders for brakes.
  • Heatsink- A manufacture making various components

  • Koxx - a French bike manufacturer

  • Magura - a manufacturer of hydraulic rim brakes, notably the HS11 and HS33.


  • MBK - a manufacturer of 26 and 20 frames
  • Monty - a Spanish bike manufacturer.

  • Rim brake - As opposed to the disc brake, the rim brake applies force to two pads onto each of the outer part of the rim's sidewall.

  • Sidehop - A trials specific move, going up a vertical obstical sideways
