[edit] History
Echo is a company that makes trials parts and frames. It is one of several trials brands owned by Deng Qiang. Echo was founded in 1998 by two young Chinese riders; Mr Deng Qiang and Mr Huang GuangHua who both had many years riding experience. In China, many people wished to ride trials, but the bikes were to expensive at the time, so they decided to make trials bikes themselves. The name Echo came from Mr Deng Qiang's girlfriend's name. They decided to use the name because their bikes were designed to be the answer of the Chinese rider's ask, in other words the bike was Made in China for China (in Chinese "the answer or solution" and "echo" are the same word). Deng Qiang and Huang GuangHua originally designed all the Echo parts by themselves.
The first Echo bike was available in Spring 1999. These Mod bikes gave young Chinese riders the chance to own a strong trials bike. In Summer 2000, Echo made a stock bike frame, It was made in 6061 T6 aluminium, with very short chain stays, light weight, but not strong enough due to the very short chainstays. Apart from that, the Chinese riders liked it very much and the model sold out.
Echo then wanted to make some new models, so in 2001 Echo released three stock frames and one mod bike, aswell as some special Trials specific components. Mr Tim Williamson at Trialsin USA was the original worldwide agent for Echo, allowing the rest of the world to use Echo parts.
Echo has progressed since then and is currently one of the largest Trials bicycle manufacturers in the world.
