Keeping Moving Parts Lubricated!
From TrialsWiki
No matter what anyone says, moving parts need to be lubricated. (Okay not everything, lubricated rims might not help you to stop!) But on the serious side, metal against metal with no lubrication will cause premature wear of components. Anybody who runs their hubs dry (not lubricated) faces big problems in the future when ratchets and pawls wear down, you face no real disadvantage of having a very thin oil in your hub shell. Fact!
Front freewheels as with rear cassettes run on the same principle, failure to look after them will result in skipping due to premature wear and inevitably you'll end up with a nakered freewheel. If you find that dirt has got into your freewheel, maybe after a competition, then it's best to try and flush that dirt out with WD-40. WD-40 is NOT a lubricant, it is a water dispersant (hence the WD) and is used in penetrating and cleaning. Always remember to oil up after cleaning. Keep your chain lubricated and clean! It's a moving part and has a limited life, especially during trials abuse. Failure to lubricate your chain could cause it to seize or get a stiff link which may cause the chain to snap. We can all imagine what a snapped chain might do if you were doing a gap.
