Magura HS33 is the name of the most popular rim brake for trials riding. They are operated by hydraulics; when the rider compresses the lever the force is transmitted down the tubing to the pistons which push the pads against the rim of the wheel.

There have been two types of HS33s over the last few years. The new and the old. Referred to as the ‘04’ (old style) and the ‘05’ (new style). The only thing that changed on the HS33 was the lever, and it wasn’t really much of an improvement. The TPA (Turbo Pad Adjustment) also known as the red star / red dial still manages to be very unreliable on both designs.
