Quick Release

A quick release (also called a skewer) is usually used, in trials, on the front axle instead of normal bolts and washers. It uses cam action to push in the built in washer. Quick realeases are a very quick, reliable and effective way of fastening your wheel to your forks. Thier only downside is that they are heavy, and they can be bent or broken much easier than regular bolts, especially if not installed correctly. Following is an example of a quick realease:
