Shimano XTR V-Brake A V-brake is a mechanical linear pull rim brake . Popular manufacturers include Shimano and Avid who offer various models suited to trials riding . A single V-brake consists of a lever, ferrules, cable, a noodle , arms and the pads . V-brakes are rarely seen on 20" bikes (mods) but have gained considerable popularity among 26" (stock) riders . With the increasing availability of good aftermarket pads and cables , riders are able to fine tune the "feel" and performance of these brakes .
