u thought of putting the avi files on a flash drive? they will play off that not sure on the laptop thing, i stream all the time using windows media connect on my pc. if your not using wmc try it, google is your friend for that 1

when you try, do the connection test. it should tell you where it fails and you can press more info. should tell you how to do it also, make sure the ports are forwareded (is that a word lol) in the router (google> xbox 360 ports)
