  1. The Trialsin' Shop is in Canada, as well as HB Trials. Both are really awesome shops owned by great people. The Trialsin Shop is on the west coast, while HB Trials is in Quebec, so depending on your location, either is a good bet. I'm in B.C., but I usually hit up Hugo at HB Trials simply because he accepts paypal, and I don't have a credit card. Shipping is really fast, too. The only problem is that you won't really find any cheap complete bikes at either. The Baia brothers in B.C. are Monty retailers (parts, complete bikes, the whole shebang) if I'm not mistaken, so give them a call if you're looking for a monty (which is a good bet) Baia Bros. Lastly, and probably what I would do, just go to biketrials.ca or observedtrials.net and look for a second-hand bike. You could get a pretty decently specced second-hand mod or even a stock for $850

  3. Assumptions? As in how "60% of americans cant even draw their own damn country even vaguely right and have no clue about anything other than america?" Nice stats.... I actually like the writing styles I see on the forums here...it gets a bit boring reading the same old vernacular day in day out (ie. Canadian/American)
  4. Mine lived outside pretty consistently, parked by the side of my house. It was stolen, though (not from my house) and now my new one has a home in my livingroom....along with about a complete bike's worth of parts. The roommates aren't impressed. :$
  5. The graphics are pretty fugly...I like the design of the frame, though. It'd look nice in white or black, or really any colour other than those honeybee-themed colours. The dildo-thing was kinda off-putting at first, but it looks decent on the pics of the finished bike.
  6. Like trials wannabe said, just put a bit of electrical tape around the grips. I wrapped a bit around both ends of each grip, i.e. where the bar-end is, and where the brakes are. Don't put too much though, cause it's a bit slippery.... Another plus is that it saves them a bit of wear. My foam grips always seem to fray tear a bit at one end and spread from there. The tape keeps it all together.
  7. Yer, it's an '04 I think. I got it second hand, but in really awesome condition. Hardly any scratches, let alone dents.
  8. First up is my 2002 (I think?) x-lite...my first real trials bike ever. I improved so much on it, and then when I moved to go to university, it got stolen. Second day of school. It remained pretty much stock until the day it died, although some newish monty parts were put on, like the bar and stem in the pics. An echo booster was thrown on in the end...about a week before it was stolen. The team is mah new baby, although my wrist has been so mucked up that I haven't been able to ride it yet. It's got an Eno freewheel, echo bars and stem, a BB7, echo cranks, etc. Front and rear red echo anodized hubs. Blingy features include a red Zoo! maggie lever, a smily-face valve cap, and some echo magura mounts. I apologise for the pics, I don't have a camera at the moment, so these are pretty old school. The bar has actually just been upgraded to a black Zoo! bar, and it looks sweet, if I do say so myself.
  9. There you go. It looks a bit obscene, a bit like the early cell phones of the 80's. In a decade or two, however....
  10. I think my riding would be utter shite, as opposed to merely poor. Learning goes really slowly, for me at least, when I don't have something/somebody to copy/learn from. I might be more unique, but I think I'd still be trying to figure out how to pedalkick.
  11. Although now that they've got their acts together and beefed up the tabs, other parts are probably going to start breaking. The Simtra has super strong disc mounts, so much so that calipers/rotors are breaking instead of the tabs. Supposedly, a Simtra team rider has snapped three Avid calipers while riding it, while the tabs are still rock solid.
  12. Go to a physiotherapist, even if it's only for one session, and ask if you can bring your bike in....I strained my wrist recently, badly enough that I couldn't/can't ride at all. I brought my bike down, and showed him how I stood on the bike, my hand position, etc. and did some basic stuff to show him where it hurt and when. He set me up with some specific excercises to help it heal and hopefully strengthen it to prevent the injury from happening again, which is what I'm most concerned about....
  13. Never had too hard of a bail, methinks I'm too much of a coward for that to happen....There were many, many bails due to brake slippage until I ground my rim, though. A pedal up to rear would invariably result in me falling onto my back on the edge of the obstacle, and then falling off the edge onto the ground, once again landing on my back. After about five severe windings/one concussion, I ground my rim.
  14. I'm pretty newbish when it comes to bike maintenance, and trials in general, but I've come to realize that it's time to replace my chain...I bought my bike second hand, and according to the owner, it's been on there for a good 9 months, including the time I've had it for. I'm getting into gaps, and I don't want to worsen the hack job that is my face at present. Does anyone have recommended chains for a mod? I'm looking at a KMC 1/8'' 410Z-chain or somesuch right now, as it's cheap and in stock at my LBS, but any suggestions are welcome. My major question is about installation. Is it done with just a personal chain tool? I would think doing that would weaken the chain a lot off the bat. Would a shop do a better job? And if I'm buying a chain like KMC, with some sort of missing link thing, is it a better idea to use that, or just toss it and link the chain as normal. *Edit: Posted it when halfway done....
