  1. Do most schools in UK have uniforms, I'm from Canada and only a few schools have them, mostly private schools. Most things you guys are saying seem so bloody outrageous that if they would be put those rules in place right now here, there would be a few riots/teachers kicked in the face.
  2. How about this guy. You can put brakes on it too. It's a reset, I think tarty has it, though it comes from Canada. Do you have any pictures of your frame built up ?
  3. Pardon my ignorance, but what is your current bike ? Having the experience of 24/26, it's not that great, when spinning, you always seem to land on your rear wheel and end up on your ass when doing pedal kicks, mind you I had a really long fork. Also, the BMX bars are overkill, just go for some mtb bars with massive rise. Though high rise bars are really good idea, they spin so much better than long stems, just be sure to twist the bars a bit forward in the stem to have a bit of added reach...
  4. Damn you got balls that was an incredible speed for a double. Not that I ever tried backflip on a bike as of yet, but just backflipping on my feet was quite scary at first (into a pool). But now, I know how it feels so I just do it without really thinking, on ground. My tips would be, learn it on your feet, build a tabletop, go slower. Good luck, nice trails, btw.
  5. To get decent sounding drum kit, you could try finding a drum solo with a drum you like. Cut every single hits you can. Like just the bass drum, just the snare (gently, hard and very hard) toms blabla... then make a sample instrument from it (sound effects in garageband). I never actually tried it, but it sounds like a good plan. I'll try finding somewhere to post up some of my stuff...
  6. The perfect option would be a second IDE drive inside the computer, but recording to the main hdd is not good for the whole system. Firstly it strains the drive loads and the drive would be more prone to just die, not nice if your stuff is in there. Secondly, since recording rushes a big stream of data to the hdd, it isn't put tidily, and you'd have to fragment your drive very often. Though, I don't know how you could make it work properly. Would be worth googling your hdd with os x ...

    Osx86 Project

From personal experience and a bit of reading, there's quite a bit of fiddling around required to get the os to start once installed with kalyway. Worth giving it a shot, anywho...

    Americans!

Nice, both xenophobic and racist Meh, I agree with you, depending on where you go, the united-states way of thinking kills me, and I always thought they were really good with the asshole/regular bloke ratio. From my little experience, try the north eastern or the south western parts for a better mentality. Or come to Canada .

    Osx86 Project

I have it on my computer, I'm running JaS 10.4.7 (yes it's really out dated but it works and I don't have any probs). I'm really surprised, my whole computer works awesome with a fresh install from that DVD, absolutely everything works without any problems. Though, that's not the case with most computers... Anyhow, find a good internet connection, some time to spare, a few DVDs and try a out a couple of distributions ! (okay, maybe a another hdd wouldn't be a bad thing either...) Good luck, read about in the wiki before starting and don't be shy to ask in here as the osx86 project forum is rather slow to answer stuff... check this link for an overview of hardware compatibility

  11. flickr, no ads and faster.
  12. I'm running os x on my PC (yes, you did read that right, check out the osx86 project) and that's much harder on my cpu than other os'es and my cpu fan was constantly going full tilt, it actually was in my other os'es too actually, I removed the fan, cleaned the heatsink and accidentally removed the heatsink from the cpu. What that was originally on there seamed fried, a bit like if you put a bit of toothpaste on a finger and rub it for a while. I cleaned that and put some decent stuff on there, I don't know what compound it is exactly bit it looked like a silverish putty and cammed from a Intel Xeon heatsink packaging. Ever since, my cpu fan hasn't even went faster than usual, even when running intensive audio sessions in garageband with tons of other applications open (my computer ain't a fast machine). I don't know if it's the cleaning of the heatsink or the putty that did a difference, but my ears are happy. If I was in your position, I'd probably buy some quality stuff as I found it made a huge difference in my computer. Not like it was a huge investment...
  13. I'm getting a really weird problem, ever since I put iLife 08' on my compy, I can't upload pictures on flickr, when I get to the "upload picture" page, either of my browsers (firefox and safari) just die... I guess I could use their program that does it from the desktop but I find it's a really weird problem...
  14. Someone knows his stuff
  15. Damn, I've got snow and a shit load of work until the 15th I'll try to squeeze a video out by then, and get my bike working.
  16. Meh mate, nothing much you can do... Is it recognized in the compy ? If so, you could try formatting it with the HP usb formatting tool to fat 32 than restore it in iTunes. If the computer doesn't see it, you could try running the system check on the ipod (center and left simultaniously after reseting the iPod by center and menu) and see what's up, or try putting it in disk mode (center right) you might get a bit more luck. If not, I would personaly try it in Linux as I find it can see pretty much anything that other oses don't, but if you don't have a distribution on hand or know anyone who does, it's not like it could do much. Else, contact apple and hot you get a hot chick who's half decent with you...
  17. Ever thought of a planet-x ghost, if you can find one. That's what I ride, my local bike shop had one on consignment, barely used, I got it for 300$ CAD. Sadly, I ride mine with 24"s and the chainstays are a bit too long for my liking, though I'm used to riding a 24" dedicated frame.
  18. Hey, don't laugh at my bike, okay ? Actually, if I remember correctly, the spoon currently on my bike weight like 30 something grams... In related news, I just made myself an aluminium foundry so expect more weird bike parts in the months to come
  19. Look around super-google but sadly, I don't know any kind of sample type place... (ps don't use the 2nd link from the google link I posted, it's guys acapela, and really is horrible)
  20. In the same kind of idea, I know Shawn Denny from DropIn (a mountain biking TV show in Canada) and I think Ryan Leech also did this awesome trick once : Started a regular sidehop In mid air raised the pedal on the side he was hopping Landed on the raised pedal Spun the cranks 180 and then locked the in place with the rear brake Made the small hop from the now lowered pedal to the tires It would probably have much more style to learn that, my friend Euhm after re-reading your post, I notice mine has little to do with it... Sorry.

    Guitar Newbie

I'd personaly tell you just to mess around learning how to tune, place your fingers, use a pick and easy songs, don't get into theory just yet as 1) you won't be able to use it 2) it will be boring and guitar will probably be quite hard already, making music is about having fun, after all... When you do start learning theory, don't just skim things, what actually makes a major chord ? and physically what happens when you make chords ? when you use distortion, what happens to your guitar signal ? It may seem very geeky to look at the physical side of music but I find I understand theory much better now that I have started doing so. So yeah start by tunning the guitar, learning how to pluck single strings, learn a few riffs say Seven nation army and smoke on the water then you might want to learn a few easy chords then some harder riff blablablabla...
