  1. Here most people ignore you, but when people do watch it usually puts me off. The other week I had a group of chavs seriously asking me to jump up onto a roof. All I could bring myself to say was "um... no. Just no."
  2. Slightly off topic, but I started to learn stoppies today, but can anyone give me tips as the how to use the brake? Is the idea to brake hard to lift the rear, roll a little, and sort of repeat, or to find a point of braking that's enough to lift the back and feather on that braking point consistently? Thanks!
  3. Pssh, I run Vs front and back, and with some tinkering I have them perfect! I guess it's personal preference, But if I keep my rims nice and true I get braking just the way I like it with Vs, though I've got to admit I've never tried Maguras after hearing they're not good for people who like to fiddle with their brakes like me!
  4. My shins are a mess of scars, and these days if I cut open one of them the rest will probably open up too, which isn't a nice thought. I just use old football shin pads I used to have for PE at school. fairly light and don't restrict any movement at all. Of course, I'd look like a dick if I was wearing shorts, but I'm the kind of person that wears jeans all year round anyway, so it works for me!

    Injury Advice

Surgery? Scary stuff! But yeah, if I need it I hope it at least gets me some time off work! I guess I'll let you decide what it needs when I get to see you. I went to A+E the day I did it and they took an x ray, but said everything was fine and I wouldn't have any more problems with it and if I did to see me GP. A few weeks later, I went to see him, but he really didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing. He didn't tell me what was wrong with it, and told me to do some exercise (can't remember what it was now) that, when I tried it, made my shoulder barely movable for a few days, and after trying that twice I wasn't going to do it again!

    Injury Advice

Hey, I thought I'd post the injury that made me quit riding years back, and the injury I still have as the NHS insist there's nothing wrong with my shoulder! I think I found the injury on Google under A/C separation, and it was caused after flying over the bars and landing with my neck/left shoulder first causing a whole lot of pain, an odd looking bony lump, and a fairly weak left upper body. Any help with diagnosis / rehabilitation exercises would be great, because I really need to work on it's strength, as if I over-strain it it kills! This injury's years old, but like I said "there's nothing wrong with it" apparently! Here's the pics.. Cheers, Ed
  7. I'd just started up trials again after a good 4 years off riding, but everything was so different and I was having to learn so much new stuff, so I googled about and found almost all the answers I needed here, and it'd be rude not to stick around after learning all I needed from here!
  8. Well, I use V's on my Base TA26, but I'd refuse to use them without a booster as they feel awful otherwise. I only use a crappy old/ unbranded one and it works fine for me, so I'd think that a carbon one would be lovely and stiff. Go for it.
  9. Sorry about the bike, I'm so scared about mine it stays in my bedroom! The number of times my shed's been broken into is getting stupid. I once tried a 180 front pivot on my friends road bike. I would have made it too, if I didn't wreck his wheel. He wasn't so happy with me. Oh well!
  10. Just finished building it tonight, though I still need to get a decent back wheel. Hopefully a Hope Mono built onto a rim I haven't decided on yet! Anyone got any ideas? Oh, and excuse the mess, it's my bedroom!
  11. Oh man, just seeing this bike was enough to get out my old dusty copy of "Dirty tricks and cunning stunts", stick it in the video player and watch Hawyes, Ashton and Hans Rey hopping about dressed in 1970's disco clothing and beating up ninjas with their bikes. Still makes me laugh today!
  12. Thanks for the replies, I think my budget is fairly flexible if I use my trusty overdraft to tide me over to the next paycheck! So second question, when I stopped riding 4 or 5 years ago after completely messing my shoulder, I don't think (or at least can't remember that) ISIS cranks/BBs existed. I know there seems to be quite a debate about them just by looking through other threads in forums, but if anyone could shed some light on the subject of which is better for trials that would be a great help! I read one thread praising their strength, then another saying they mess up cranks after removing them a few times.. all pretty confusing for me! Thanks again, Ed
  13. Hey, I used to be of the philosophy of buy cheap parts then replace them when they break, but now that I'm fixing up my old bike with decent gear, I've been caught out. I want a new set of Middleburn cranks, but should I buy a new bottom bracket with them? I know I don't have to, but seeing as they cost so much I don't want to stick them on something that's going to ultimately destroy them, and if I should get a new BB, can anyone recommend one to me, as it used to be a simple case of sticking a cheap one in there and going with it! Thanks, Ed
  14. nope, doesn't work for me either, I get a "cannot find server" error.
