I thought I wanted to go into the bike trade in year 9 but after working in a bike shop its the last thing I want to do. I took Geography, Resistant materials, Electronics and Drama (lighting and set design). I chose these because they are things I enjoy and the 2 technology subjects relate slightly to engineering. When I decided going into the bike trade wasn't for me I decided I wanted to be an engineer, and didn't want to carry on in further education, this was about half way through year 10. At that point I started researching apprenticeships in engineering and about 4 months ago I came across a practical engineering roll at Rolls Royce. It was just what I was looking for and I went to the opening evening then appied soon after. I got invited to an assement day and I got the job. What I'm trying to say is that you cant decide what you want to do specificaly in year 9 so take choices relavent to the area of work you want to be in. Then in year 11 you can talk to your careers adviser and research what you think you want to do and take it from there. Dont decide now. Hope I've helped. Tom
