To check bearing tightness, you can pick the bike up by the top tube, and spin the wheel :lol: or take the wheel off and check. p.s you never used the Hope on the leeson did you! :D Edit: and the bearings on my king have much less resistance than the bearings on my hope did (Y)

thats debatable! i phoned super cycles about 6 months ago to see if they had any RB seals, and the told me they have never sold RB levers (despite the fact i bought mine from them at the 2003 bikeshow!! (Y) ) Halfords don't actually sell them, but they can order one if you ask them (they get their RB stuff from NSE) price is £59 (with £30 deposit or ordering)

what about a stealth? :o i'd say save for a bit longer and get a second hand king

mine lasted well over a year before i had problems. At the mo, it's a complete mess and leaks constantly (but i have a nice new one on order from halfords :o )

plus, hopes are more likely to slip under immence torque, but the king ring-drive acually works better under immence torque! and it's less likely to slip!

mine lasted 1 1/2 years, and is still goin strong with another owner.....the fact that the first one arrived cracked (in the box) is irrelevant! :P

yeah, those were my words! it really is amazing! i only rode it round halfords for a couple of mins, but it feels rock soild and almost like it couldn't possibly slip...if you get what i mean! :P have to wait and see how it holds up though

nah he was running a HS33 on a proto B20D frame (if you mean the 2003 bikeshow) but i think he did have a red king hub. I do have a close up photo somewhere, but i cant find it! :P

getting mine bike out, and finding my RB has decided to urinate over night :D

the key is learning how to use the brakes, i start with both brakes on, then as i lunge up, i let the rear brake off so the rear wheel effectively rolls up the wall.

well i use one on the front and it seems ok, no pinches yet. but i used to run a 2.5 on the rear which i pinched many times :P at least it will be almost half the weight of the pananracer! :-"

my point was, why buy something and then ask what's it's like!!?? surely it would be better to ask peoples opinions, and then order it, depending on what you think about things other people have said? :rolleyes:
