  1. should edit this topic to 'bleedin echo rim brakes shouldn't be on the market'
  2. The sharper the disc you use the harsher the grind. I use a cutting disc and work it against steel to sharpen it before each use. As for the tnn clamps the best thing to do (this goes for pretty much any clamp set up really) is to remove the brake and rear wheel, and run a file across the frame's mounts... There's a detailed video of how to do it on the tnn site I believe. You won't regret the effort. Work diagonally accross the mounts with little pressure on the file, hold it in the centre. You will be able to see when all mounts have been filed flat.
  3. Yeah of sorts. There's not a lot you can do about it. It's all very hit and miss. I tend to find the tight spot, tension my chain so it's perfect there and live with the slack and nasty noise.
  4. My worst setup for this was my middleburns on a profile hub. My current set up of try alls on an echo hub doesn't have the slightest hint of a stiff spot which is luxury
  5. You have a thread on the sprocket on your cranks, as well as a thread where the bb goes into the frame. This is a common issue mainly on mods where you tend to have the thread of a freewheel, bb and sprocket meaning that you can almost always get a 'stiff spot'
  6. What? How on earth have you come to that conclusion? You clearly want to blow all your money and ignore all advice, have fun with it.
  7. 3 months is still very much a beginner. I'd spend 300 on a second hand bike. And put 2200 into bonds or an isa account
  8. I glued my rear cousts (coust in heatsink backings) using 'flex' super glue, but these have come slightly out at the corners. My front cousts (coust in tnn backings) I used standard super glue and they've held in perfectly. I think the key is not over clamping the vice when glueing.
  9. Those surroundings wow. I'm also about your size now, but still love riding. Pretty similar style too, nice.
  10. Just use a hacksaw or grinder. 2 minute job
  11. I like it. Everyone has the echos. Nice colour too
  12. Quiet?! Mine are crazy loud. Sound like a banshee getting raped. I reccomend tnn backings with coust material cut to fit by Steve directly. Much snugger fit
  13. Belaeys are bloody awful for the money!
  14. Jake that's exactly what I was looking for on them earlier... They feel a lot narrower than mine
  15. All this real coust stuff is a load of rubbish. Order direct from heatsink. Best pads by a mile. Tnn are good but not a touch
  16. Not great photos as the light had faded Mine on far right, Matt's in middle, Jake's far left
  17. I'm all about silver everything in life
  18. My tabletop and rocket Ron were lighter than listed too
  19. Stem and bars look so much better!
  20. This topic is now in my favourites ready to be bumped in 2020
  21. I really don't think he does have a valid reason. I'd say 99.9% of people that use tarty are more than satisfied. And after all, without them we'd all be pretty stuck in the mud.
  22. petrol? aftershave? vodka? I'd of thought anything with a high alcohol content. If they don't work then i guess caustic soda, and try not to strip the paint
  23. That's the 4th vice I've heard of snapping in the past month or so (mine included). Just send the crank along with freewheel. You only need to wing your new one on hand tight.
