They're insanely fast though. My HDDs give around 100mbps peal read speed, but it has to seek the data first and if you are accessing two things at once in different places, the arm has to seek and locate back and forth all the time between the two areas, so the speed drops massively. SSDs don't have this problem, there's virtually no lag because there are no moving parts to seek and locate stuff or discs to spin up, so they can do their peak transfer speed all the time. Win. I the real world, the different between SSD and HDD is pretty huge.

Not for the Intel ones IMO, 40gb and pretty low speeds, I'd get one of these, they're getting good reviews from everyone I've spoken to who has one, and it's not that much more than the Intel really, and you get 64gb and silly speeds. I fancy a pair in RAID0, should be able to break 700mbps read speeds...

Not expensive? DDR2 then? I've been thinking about going to 8gb, but I paid £53 for my first 4gb, and it's now £84. Ram prices are silly ATM for DDR3, because the ram chips themselves for most manufacturers are made by one company in taiwan, and they're pumping the the prices up because they're bastards. Basically if you want 8gb and can get it now cheap, I would.

Forgive me if I've misread, but you've put 4gb in already and are planning to add another 4gb? Is that really needed? I've been running 4gb of DDR3 at 1600mhz for nearly a year, and only hit the page file once. That was not fun waiting for it to sort itself out.

The mini is still on the go, there was a load of problems with the company making the engine and a lawsuit. Basically the engine was nothing like the spec that Oli had ordered and I think is had some second hand bits in it? Anyway either Nick or Oli's family (or both) opened a lawsuit with the company in question, won, and got the money back.

Do you never bother with Google Dave? At least say what version of Windows it is.
