  1. He's actually speaking the truth IMO. If you can make the wheels lighter or move the weight towards the middle of the bike, it make it feel far more maneuverable. But the topic start is asking about drilling some steel Onza forks. Just bin them and get some nice ones. Drilling them will make them lighter, but not half the weight and correct the geometry...
  2. Cheap bits from mates mainly. It is a lot of fun, never thought I'd like it really but think I'll be sticking with it now. For a while at least.
  3. Could say the same to you...
  4. It's probably the best sub £200 frame that was made up until about 2007. As for the best frames ever..... Not a chance I'm afraid. The geo is from 2004, they're weak, average weight and look incredibly dated. In 2004 it was definately a trend setter, before that starter bikes were terrible, but that was 6 years ago. Many better frames have been and gone since then.
  5. He'd just say the same as all the decent riders/anyone with a brain. "I couldn't give a f**k what labels you put on stuff, I just ride my bike." Anyway, he rides an Inspired. Inspireds are sold at Tarty, so therefore, he rides a trials bike, and does trials on it.

This is my mum, she thinks it's amazing.
  7. Tops. I just paid £60 for a Zona Zip....
  8. It is indeed. And if you're talking about a disc mount, the holes are 52mm apart. If you wanted to know that. (Might be 51mm actually, my memory isn't so good).
  9. everyone on here should have to try brakeless before they're allowed to be validated. it would just be better.

I've tried brakeless, its called riding in the rain with black magura pads!

  10. Topicd get locked for breaking the rules. You've had one locked for asking to be validated, so validation will probably take you a lot longer than it would otherwise... Also, as a general rule people who don't use capitals to start sentences and full stops to end them never get validated. It makes the posts much easier to read and takes no extra effort. Someone even posted this for you in that topic, read it dude! Also have a read of this.
  11. The build is dodgy by the looks of it, if you look towards the top of the pic there are 4 spokes that don't follow the 3x pattern. (I think).
  12. Use a grinder with a fine sanding disc, and a really shallow angle, then just move it over the rim really slowly. It'll still be a bit rough though.
  13. I made the design in Photoshop, then got Fishy to cut them with his vinyl cutter.
  14. Hmmm I dunno, there's not an awful lot to ride for brakeless I reckon, and to be honest I don't fancy it considoring how many people are normally about. Slowing down on the Koxx is not an easy task. All depends if the Zona sells or not really. I don't like it enough to keep it really, but if no-one buys it then I don't really have a choice.
  15. Some piccies in here: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=153956
  16. Yo, just got some pics of the Zona as I'm selling it, so thought I'd grab some of the Koxx as well. First Koxx I've ever owned, and I love it. It's such a laugh riding brakeless. It also only cost me £80 to build it up, so I'll probably hold onto to play on on the rare occasion I ride. Just needs a new seat and I'm thinking about getting a worse front wheel for it, as this one is too good for the rest of it. Only interesting thing about the Zona is the rear lever, 04 HS33 body with a Mono Trial lever blade. Had some spare Muel stickers and it looked a bit bland, so I wacked them on. I'm not really a fan of having my name on my bike any more, seems a bit egotistical but meh, uses them up. Just realised all the pictures are from the same two angles. Hmm, never mind...
  17. The topic is in NMC dude, no-one comes in here... I'm on TC, tend to stick to the Yamaha section. Everyone who rides on here has posted in here I think: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=148637
  18. No I did not. It's a 2003 Koxx Cheat Code, and when they were new they were pretty rubbish, which is why you never see any. However, it was £28 on ebay, including postage, a BB and a set of cranks. Well IMO it's about both, and seeing as the rider doesn't have many skills, the bike matters a lot. I'm not going to change it anyway, just interested.

Much harder to get off though, and when I've done it in the past, as soon as the hairspray gets wet, it basically turns to lube.
  20. Heyup, suppose this is aimed at the Tarty boys more than anything... I've been playing on my Cheat Code brakeless and I loves it, but I need a new seat for it, all the new ones on tarty are a bit expensive for this bike really, it's cost me less than £100 to build so far, and I'm going to downgrade the front wheel because it's too nice for it, so the full build will have cost around £80. Looking for something second hand ideally if anyone has anything? Also, just wondering how this geo stacks up to the Inspireds and other seaty brakeless things? 398 chainstays, 1052 wheelbase, -30 bb. It's a 26" by the way in case that changes anything? At the moment it has an Echo hifi stem with Monty PR bars, it feels good to me. Stem could do with being 20mm shorter but I can't be bothered changing it.

    Foam Gripss

Trialtech Foams. If you decide to go for some, when you get them scrub the inside of the grip out with a pan scourer, (the green thin flat ones), and hot soapy water. Just roll it up, work it inside the grip then twist it whilst squashing the grip onto it in different places, to make sure you get it all scrubbed on the inside. This is because when the transfers are put onto the grip, the releasing agent liquid stuff leaves a waxy deposit inside the grip, so they rarely stick to the bar properly.
  22. Nothing wrong with those wheels at all. Cranks/BB are also fine for the time being. Personally I'd upgrade the forks first, those Onza ones are steel and weigh rather a lot What I would get would be an 18t bashring, a Tensile freewheel and a 12t rear sprocket. This would improve the engagements and make the drivetrain ride as well as all mid-range stuff. The rear brake could also do with some upgrading, I'd get some pads like the ones that have already been recommended, and in the future a booster, and upgrade the arms, lever and cable. So aye, basically just a FFW setup, upgrade the rear brake a bit and the forks, bar and stem. Everything else on it is fine IMO. Onza wheels have always been slated, especially the old T-Pro hubs. I always found if you just rebuilt them properly then they'll run forever.
  23. Hmmm, strange. Try unplugging it and booting up to the desktop, then shutting down and plugging it in again, then booting to the desktop again and test it again. My old one would only work on the first boot after it had just been plugged in again, not the most useful of situations really. I just left the computer on none stop for about 2 months.
  24. Usually fubared in my experience when they do that. On they bright side they're like £15 now. EDIT: Tried sticking a disc in then opening it in my computer? I'm guessing yes, but your post could mean no.
