    New Chain

My collapse was the worst chain I ever used! It was mega heavy and got stiff links constantly, even when well lubed. Z610! On my third now, bought one for a Mod I was selling, then one for my Kot, then just replaced it the other day. It did snap one though, but it was knackered, it had stretched half a link over the new one and it was all rusty in some places, and had never been lubed since I bought it.
  2. I seem to remember I used to rave about how the new mono trial lever wasn't as good as the old one? actually it's far better. I now use an new style body with the old style lever blade, best of both worlds.
  3. Louder and you end up with less mess in there.
  4. We have snow, and I really wanted to ride today, if only for an hour or so.
  5. They'll be fine if you can be bothered, I've got M10 TI bolts in my rear Pro2, it saves some weight, not sure how much as I never weighed them. The M6 ones are tiny though, the weight saving over Stainless isn't much at all. I once worked it out at 100g for every bolt on a Mod, which would have me £130. I changed my grips from rubber to foam instead, saved 50g for £6, and cut some knobbles off my tires for free, saving another 150g. It's just too much money for the saving IMO.
  6. Yeh but there is very little wear in hubs anyway, I've been running my Pro2 completely dry for over a year, never had any problems. (Well snapped a spring once, but doubt that was effected by it).
  7. Can I ask what the point of the post time restrictor is? I bump one topic, then have to wait to bump the other....
  8. £110 for on suite halls is pretty cheap, I know a girl who was on my course for the first couple of weeks who is paying just over £150, which is all of her student loan, grant, burseries, plus a little bit more. You can get a room in a house share for like £65 a week inc bills though...
  9. Tis £3290 now andrew. Yeh the preferential treatment takes the piss. One lad in my class was born and raised in Somalia, speaks English really well, but can barely write and often misses classes and lectures. The most annoying thing is though that he can't use a computer for shit! Literally stuff like, "Select the images you want, and drag them into photoshop", I ended up doing it for him, because after explaining it 4 times he gave up and just said, "you do it man it's too complicated for me". And we end up carrying him for all the group work, then he gets high marks so he gets by. If it was me in his position, by now I would have at least had a bollocking, all he gets is, "How are you doing, do you need more help? There are english help classes you can go to you know". Maybe at college yeh, but at uni? He's at university doing Web Design, and can't write or operate a computer? It's rediculous, by accepting him they've effectively wasted his time and money, he'd be far better suited just getting a job for a year and going to evening school to learn english and the basics of using computers. This is where the UCAS system falls down, he had the UCAS points because he went to college, but I went to a different college and did the same course, and it was easier than my GCSEs. I got DDD without really trying, and I still find uni difficult! Grrr just my thoughts, I totally agree with Andrew on this one. I'm all for having international students at my uni, it makes the whole experience more interesting, but when you've got a big group project and one person fails to turn up to meetings and doesn't put the effort in, it makes it so much harder for everyone else. The 50% aim is stupid aswell, I think it's because college BTECs have got far too easy now, so the only thing they're useful for is getting onto a higher course, so people need to go through uni to get any kind of decent job at the end of it.
  10. Angle grinders are better for cutting things into pieces and grinding off large amounts of material, use a file, should work fine.
  11. I think it's not just height, but build and personal preference that matter aswell. Is he a 6 foot rake or fairly large? Get him to try both aswell.
  12. looks like slate to me? Tis noice. EDIT: Too slow.
  13. I've been using them for about 7 years now, not once have I had an issue with anything being late, or even had to send anything back.
  14. I scaled it to 1920x1200, and then just faded it into black at the taskbar. Don't need to warm it up on this monitor, it's already on dead vibrant.
  15. Just set it as mine aswell, gonna have to resize and fiddle it for 1920x1200 though. Second pic of Stan I've had as my wallpaper lol.
  16. It's normal, they assume that you're willing to work at the same time. I'm just saving for moving out next year, then after that year I'm on placement so I'll be able to live off me wages then, I hope... EDIT: You're paying 5k for accomodation? You've done some wrong calculation there mate. That is unless you're getting a 52 week lease? But to be honest if you're doing that, you've got 3-4 months in the summer to work anyway. Our uni year is only 32 weeks, which would mean you're paying nearly £160 a week in rent...
  17. Actually it was the wrong way round, it's supposed to be "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog". It's a common typing practice sentence when learning to touch type, for a while I did try to learn when I was 10/11, then I realised I couldn't be arsed.
  18. On the todays active topics page, the link for "mark all forums as read and return to index" has gone. Could it be put back do you think? I used it a fair bit. Also summat needs doing about the lightbox to make a fixed maximum size, I'm running 1920x1200 and there are loads of pics larger than that that just cover the whole page, maybe it should be scaled down to fit in the viewable browser area? Then it won't go off the edges of any screen.
  19. Errmm, actually takes like 20 mins, saves a lot of weight.... Yes I've done 4 tires. Saved over 250g in total on my stock. Drilling the sidewall of my front rim took 2 hours and saved 18g, now that's pointless. EDIT: But yeh, bac on topic...
  20. A lightened Dob Magnesium would be around 1.2kg, your T-Pro just isn't. You'd really change your headset to save 20g? Unless you're winning comps regularly at a high level there really is no point.
  21. No it doesn't, not a chance. I have one here I cracked and lightened to get some practice at it, I couldn't get it below 1.6kg. I cut off the bash mounts, cut the dropouts down, drilled the dropouts etc. Was going to cut a hole in the headtube aswell but got bored. If that's the spec, just ride it lol, theres nothing wrong with it. It's gotta be under 8.5kg with that spec, unless you have super heavy wheels, tires and forks.
  22. The frames are 1.6kg lol. They're actually very light already. But no, a headset won't make any real difference. You'll save more usually by changing tires, wheels, forks, cranks/bb, bar/stem etc. Depending on what you have now.
