You can make a bore cap tool out of a piece of steel 3mm thick, just file the corners round and take them down until it just fits into the bore cap across two opposite indents.

It's pretty much the mose complicated thing to do on a trials bike besides building wheels, but I've never struggled with it. It's just down to how careful you are really, clean everything properly, polish the pistons, replace all the seals and don't get oil everywhere.

I find having a higher pressure helps with preloading, otherwise it just rims as soon as you compress. I think I run about 25psi in the rear, I'm around 79kg.

Well you do if it's premix, loads use oil pumps instead... My bike runs on premix, it's really not hard to stick it in there and shake the bike about to mix it up. She only rode it once? Must have been a bad surprise or she would have returned for more...

Should get stocks! When I single walled my rear rim I saved over 100g, then a further 80g for the side knobbles and about 20g by switching to sellotape for rim tape.

Same, I had a KOT MS2 before that was 1.8kg, so fairly light even by todays standards, but it was really flexy to ride and it annoyed me too much in the end, so my current bike is about 10.5kg, it is pretty heavy but has a Simtra frame with Zoo forks, so it's nice and stiff.

I find I improve fastest if i'm riding with someone who's of a similar ability to me, then you get some rivalry going on.
