Give me a shout if you're ever around, would be cool to meet up. It's done wonders for my fear level too, I don't really mind running it out. Until I get tired, then I mind very much... I think the attraction for me is that in normal climbing, the panic relex just makes you look like a gay, when you're soloing, it becomes a real issue because it drains your energy and makes you more likely to fall, so you have no choice but to ignore it. I agree on the meditation bit. I have a mate who prefers complete silence when he's soloing, so that he can hear his boots squeaking on the rock.

We recently had a soloing day at Stanage Popular, was very fun. I prefer Burbage North though, the routes tend to be shorter and slabbier.

"It's your fault I'm a b*****d, so stop telling me off for behaving like one".

I manage to make do with Primark jeans and I'm not exactly skinny. Around 14 stone at 5'10". Mind you, they're not "baggy" at all...

I think it's completely stupid lol, but I just love the way it feels. Whenever I'm soloing there's always a little voice saying "If you fall of here, you'll probably die", for some reason it doesn't scare me though, just makes me be more cautious. You end up carefully testing every hold before you fully weight it, so the concentration gets so strong you forget about everything else around you. I'll stop being a hippy now...

Don't be gay with all the humane fairy lights and softly softly gently gently. They're vermin, and spread like them. Proper traps are the only thing I've used that worked, the extra strong ones.

All climbers unfortunately. I don't really like bouldering at all, so never ended up hanging round with any boulderists. We all tend to meet up, do a lot of sitting around and eating cake, argue about soloing (I'm strongly in favour, love it), do a couple routes, then go to the pub for large pies. I know several people that train at whatever walls exist in Nottingham though, so happy to put you in touch. Do you have facebook and that?

I live in Sheffield and climb regularly, and know several climbers in Notts I could probably put you in touch with.

Wasn't there a 2.8 v6 as well? Don't know much about them, just always fancied one. Lot of car for a grand or so.

That car is a pretty car.

Punch her in the face, really, really hard. -
Yes but is it actually going to happen this time, or is it just more scaremongering to put people off getting on the road? Every year there's another wave of "We're going to make life harder for you all, lol not really, was just an idea." How do they plan to police whether I'm working on my own bike or not anyway? They have to somehow prove that I haven't done. Good luck with that.

I wasn't picking anyone out, just adding to the general debate. Airflow is very important though, I agree. I just bought a Bitfenix Shinobi XL, mainly for the looks but also in an attempt to make my computer cooler and quieter. It has a 230 and a 120 in the front running at 12v, but the front of the case is too restrictive so they don't shift enough air. Got some plans to mod it to improve things but not impressed with it. It's made almost no difference to my temps. Looks good though and is a bit quieter.

Robin, have you tried replacing the thermal compound on the CPU cooler? Any pre-builds are generally built using shit compound, because the more expensive stuff you get in syringes is messy and attracts dust. They use pads of much cheaper, harder stuff because it isn't as messy and therefore much faster to assemble. If you remove the cooler, wipe off the old stuff and apply some higher quality compound (I favour Arctic Cooling MX4) you should see a decent drop in temps. Especially if you find any dust lodged in the heatsink at the same time.

On the watercooling debate, I think a line needs to be drawn. Watercooling means a custom built watercooling loop, costing hundreds/thousands of monies. You're talking about "closed-loop" or "single-unit" watercooling solutions, which are all cack, every last one of them. They're all stupidly (painfully) loud and don't perform very well. The Corsair H100 (considered the best one), has had lots of pump issues recently on the forums I go on, because of a voltage issue. Running it at 12v is fine, but if your PSU runs it at 12.1v or higher, it rattles and vibrates. It also gets beaten by most big air coolers anyway in every test. (D14, PH-TC14PE, Silver Arrow etc). That's why I bought a PH-TC14PE. If you want a decent, cheap CPU cooler, I have one of these in my server. If you enable the fan scaling feature on the motherboard to slow the fan down when the temperature is low, then it's very quiet. It's also powerful enough to to cool pretty much any CPU on the market at stock settings, and some overclocked. It's quite tall though so measure up your case to check it will fit.

Not sure it works like that, unless in America you have ethernet cables coming directly into the house? In the UK you need a modem and a router, or a one box modem/router combo. Most home routers are actually ADSL routers, that have a router and an ADSL modem in one box. I'd say if it works, run it. I play about with network kit all the time and it's usually left alone once it's working well enough.
-
Yes, that's why everyone said "it's shit". All wireless is usually shitter than a cable if available. (In that, connecting to the same router via a cable is 90% of the time better than connecting via wireless). Although your speed increase is probably more to do with the fact that the modem now has one device connecting to it, not several, and the Netgear router does a much better job of routing all the things. They are fantastic those WGR614. I have one of them (relegated to wireless access point now) and 2 of the DG834G (ADSL version of the same/similar thing). All faultless.

Anybody looked into the new MOT rules I've heard a rumor about? The car thread is full of it. Will it effect riders too?
-
Talk to our kid mate, Orange 5 would be the obvious choice but you're roughly 1.5 men in terms of weight and stregnth, so I'd say you need something more hardcore than a 5...

Nobody has done it yet, so I'm going to. Might be badly recieved, but I guess we shall see. Srpski. (Not "A Serbian film", that was the neutered UK version. I'm talking about the banned version).

If it's worth making a thread for, make a thread. If not, don't spam a random topic. -

What does this have to do with relationships? (with girls or guys, this thread ain't homophobic). If you want the angry thread, it's been closed. Tom said for everyone to just make a topic if it's worth making a topic out of. -

For me it would be, yes. One day I might end up with a car in which case 10 miles wouldn't seem like as much, but right now it's be too far for me. -

If it takes longer than 30 mins from decision time to being together, it's long distance IMO. My ex lived 30 miles way, that meant an hours drive for her or 1.5 hours on a bus for me, that only ran every 2 hours. Might as well be 5 hours away because we had to plan to see each other, couldn't just pop over for an hour or two. Current wench used to live about 30 min walk away, which was great, could just text her saying "Bored. Busy?", walk round and spend the evening with her. We live together now though so even less of an issue now. Easy decision to be honest Dan, can you be arsed to drive up there to see her next weekend? Would it be worth it? If the answer to either of those is no, then break up, otherwise less thinky/crying/emo and more just get f**king on with it.
