I'm just gonna comment on this bit, because I disagree with it. Being scared gives you an adrenaline rush, and that makes you feel amazing. I've only been to Alton Towers once and it was money well spent in my eyes. Wouldn't go again because it got boring towards the end of the weekend we had there. Mind you, I ride motorbikes and enjoy climbing things with no ropes, so I'm probably just addicted to it. (Have also done kayaking, surfing etc but then I became scared of water).

It's a desktop, not a laptop. Fecked USB ports is fecked usb ports. XP doesn't need a driver to understand USB2, and before Windows loads it's using some firmware bollocks. I'd guess at the USB controller being royally buggered. Which means new motherboard. If it's not understanding a keyboard there's little else you can do.

Sorry. £21.99 in the shops, £17.19 on eBay, £12.19 with the voucher, free postage, lavely.

Cheers Dan, just bought a book I've been desperate for, £21.99 in the shops, just got it for £12.19 posted.

Aye from what I can tell, this is the stuff you want: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=145E179BA5CA7304 I'd buy it from there. Cheapest I can find it for elsewhere is £30, and that's before postage. Also, make sure you're running 64 bit windows first or you'll only see 3gb of RAM being used.

What model is it? Will be the easiest way to be sure to be honest.

Lololol dwarfkini lolol.

One is 1066mhz, the other is 1333mhz. Before you buy, make sure your laptop is DDR3, has two DIMM slots, and find out what the fastest memory it supports is.

How much roughly would it cost for something like Pauls?

In theory, could be 6 months until I go back to uni in September and start spending the 40 hours a week I'm at work, at home. It won't be though hopefully. They just sacked someone at work and taken on someone new so when this lass's training is over, she'll take more hours on. Who knows... EDIT: Mike, nah we're no like that at all. If anything I'm the clingy one. We do have nice weekends, just not that many of them. Usually it's a day or half a day. -

Enough, yes. In the same way that being a vegetarian will keep you alive. It's enough to keep us ticking along quite pleasantly, but let's face it, it's half an existence at best. -

Quick question, if you work 9-6, Monday - Friday, and your girlfriend works 6-11pm for at least 4 days in that time and two days at the weekend, can it: A. Work. B. Not. Additional info: You are a geeky motherf**ker obsessed with training routines, and have to be in bed by 10pm and up by 6am to fit a routine into your life. -

If she is, I couldn't see her. -
If I won the lottery I'd just spend it on steroids. Looking god Kris! Without sounding gay (well, maybe a bit), You've got a lovely back there. Traps are lacking a bit though IMO, work dem shrugs.

There was no need GRAY, I just thought it was funny. I watched part of that video, the guy just appears to be high to me. I certainly don't need to listen to some old American rant about how wrong I am in order to "understand myself". I understand myself just fine. I go to work to earn the roof over my head and the things I need to enjoy life, then I go to bed, then I get up and do it again.

We've not missed you.

IS A TARP.

Do FF plugins work with it? Will try it out soon, cheers. Heard of it before but last I checked it was still based on FF 3.6, would appear they're up to FF 10 now.

Did you even read the article you posted? They don't mention security. What they do do is give IE9, Firefox, Safari and Opera the same rating. IE9 is the most secure browser, or was as of Q3 2011 when this report was issued and kicked up a stink. IE9 is, at the moment, the newest browser as well IIRC. Firefox has basically been on bug-fixing since they released FF4 Beta in 2010, Chrome has only slightly changed since around the same time and so has Opera. Not sure about Safari, but IE9 had a brand new rendering engine in 2011. The only browser to release a new engine as far as I'm aware. IE8 has been deprecated for over a year, so it's irrelevant to be honest. I do google these things, I'm a front-end developer and do 90% of the browser testing at work as well, so I use all available browsers regularly. It's also the only browser I haven't had trouble with in the last year. Opera had a memory leak that saw it using 3gb of my RAM and bringing my system to it's knees, Chrome refused to open once and had to be reinstalled, Firefox has so many bugs I can't keep track, and Safari needed reinstalling to make it talk to the internet again. I only use it for testing because I don't like the way it works, but in terms of security, speed and features it's level pegging with all the other browsers.

Just in case you missed this: It was playing up for me all last night doing it.

Bull shit. Horse shit. Sheep shit. IE9 is widely regarded as the safest browser. I don't use it personally because I use Firefox for it's plugins, but Firefox is so shit at the moment, it's rammed full of bugs and nastiness. Chrome is a good browser but massively restricted IMO, and it doesn't have the choice of plugins that Firefox has. For the every day user at the moment, I'd say either IE9 or Opera. Chrome if you prefer, but I don't.

What he said. Not being funny mate, but you're obviously not "hard" enough to handle it. -
Well it's got a dual core version of the CPU that's in mine, so with 4gb of RAM I reckon it might be usable. Mine isn't really, it's slower than my phone. I use it for listening to music now, for everything else it's pretty useless. EDIT: Netbooks use a 1024x600 screen, it's pretty much the staple of a netbook IMO. Any bigger and it's a notebook. The reason your battery life has gone to shit will be the hard drive IMO. Upgrading from 1gb to 2gb of RAM made no difference at all for me. They're not meant for running excel or outlook, it's a cheap, cheerful little computer for browsing the internet and updating your facebook. If you want something to work on you need a notebook or laptop.
