Stock To Mod Hopefully Will Have £1300 To Spend
Mr Rankin replied to trialsr lee's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
if you are just starting out what is the point i spending 1300 squid on a bike that will take a pasting? go for something slightly more heavy duty, the zip would be a good choice imo. a really good bike wont make you a really good rider. -
i see it like the property ladder, get a loan/credit card buy a really nice bike, keep it nice and sell it on in a year or so and that towards another one with a little bit of saved money on top perfect xxxx

i would have to agree with alic. But i would also say that if you are a CLS wannabe and just want to go massive on street then a long may suit that type of riding better. looking at the top 20" compettion riders you will find that most ride short bikes dispite their height. comas being about 6,3" and riding a monty the way he does is the perfect example. i ride a short and couldnt ever see myself on a long 20" tom ......

I love watching competion vidoes and seeing how fierce the rivalry gets. riders would have to be 20" Cesar, dani comas, carles diaz, hosel 26" vincent, kenny, caisso, butler this topic has made me want to ride!!!!!

well done for bringing this one up. First things first i just want to point out, as somebody else did earlier that Cls used to compete in tyketrial and british champs. he even got in to Elite at the brits which is no mean feat, then he decided street was more his thing and got amazingly good at it. Fair play to him he has huge moves and good technical ability too. Riding natural and riding a competition are completely different, the constraints you are put under in a comp environment are massive i.e you get given just enough room to navogate an object in a certain way, no run up for example or a stoney uphill run up. time limit, observer watching your every move and usually a crowd of riders you are directly competing against. it is these factors which set competion apart from normal riding, be it street or natural. For Somebody to think that the moves cls and tunnie use in their videos are all you need to ride at a high level in comp has obviously missed something.lol To say that either of these guys could go to the world champs and compete against the likes of vincent or kenny or gaicomo is ridiculous, the level of these riders fitness, focus and skill is totally out of this world. not to mention the years of experience. i think it would also dent their egos if they were to get beaten by underrated riders which would undoubtedly happen. personally i would love to see craig and neil compete, it would help increase the profile of competiton riding in the uk and bring more new riders to compete. but of course if they are happy doing what they are doing then why should they change to please us folk. cheers for listening

i do the occasional competion, and love them they rock. will make you a very controlled rider indeed

Have You Ever Been Insulted While On Your Bike
Mr Rankin replied to teeth's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
i always seem to get mistaken for a little kid when im riding in a helmet because im a short f*cker so therefore get abuse from tiny little rat children (chavs) that think they are going to push me off and steal my bike. the chances of this are indeed rather low as im 20 and not exactly tolerant of the toe rags. Its the kids who turn up and ask you how much your bike was and that they want a go on it to look out for, there is usually bout 20 of their mates hiding round the corner.lol F*ck em all! -
they look amazing, so may lines UCI styleeeeee. I am going to go and ride them tonight (Tuesday) would be nice to have some company, anybody fancey it? tom_1987_rankin@hotmail.com let us know
