I'm not sure I'd be confident enough to start hacking away at my Maxxis, but I'll keep that as plan B The echo tyres actually look fairly rounded, so I might give that a try on the back, anyone have any experience of them for street or park?
  2. That's a shame! To be honest, both bikes you listed are from quality brands, so you can't go far wrong with either of them. I can't comment on the Monty as I've never tried one, but my Onza was certainly very easy to get along with, as I said earlier you might decide to change the gearing to something a little easier, but at least it helps you to get around. Unless someone posts any serious flaw with either, I'd suggest go for the one which looks the most attractive to you, after all, you're more likely to go out more often and enjoy it more on an attractive bike. Enjoy your time trialsin'!

Yeah, mostly metal. There's 2 near me - a fairly large varied metal one and a small crappy 'just to stop the kids moaning' wooden one. Guess yeah I need to work on my riding style, I'm not a very experienced park rider so I just assumed I was slipping because of my tyres. I see what you mean about the up down rather than carving Simpson, guess I'll need to work up some more balls, going at an angle for drop ins etc. makes it feel easier Cheers for the link Eskimo!
  4. I'd listen to Rick on these T-Comp points, I have one too - I'd also say for a beginner, the gearing is a bit hard, I found things much easier on a friends bike to get the feel for things. Overall it's been a great bike for me and would definitely recommend it. Someone mentioned things break easily, but so far it's indestructable for me at 10stone. Depends how heavy you are and how hard you ride it i guess! The best advice I could give you for buying a bike as a beginner though would be to try and have a quick ride on as many as you can to see which suits you, I mean some of my friends' bikes I just can't get along with and would've been gutted if I'd forked out hundreds of pounds for one.

Cheers mate! I'll check out those stores. My thread is in 'Full Members > Trials Chat' fairly near the top atm.

    Park Tyres

Don't think you understood what I mean, Simpson. My tyres are fine for street trials, but I want something that will give better grip in a park, because it's an odd request for a 19" and wide park tyre I'm not interested in buying a BMX I just need something that can help me push my riding further as I'm having fun experiementing in a skate park - after all riding (whatever discipline) is about having fun, not following the crowd. E.g. you disagree with my tyre pressures, but it's what I feel comfortable with so that's what I should run. I'm not sure if you've ridden park, but it's very slippy (hence the children sliding down the quarter pipes for fun) and you get a lot less grip than you would doing street on concrete for example, at least in my town.

Cheers, I'll check them out. I run a pretty high pressure for trials - around 40psi, that's just how I like it, and still got slipping, just wondering, for park, is it better to run high pressure for less rolling resistance or low for grip?

    Park Tyres

I'm suprised someone feels the same! You're right, it rocks Although I think you could class some of it as trials, like I do some side drops off the boxes and a couple more trials related things, I'm thinking get lots of pivots and gaps next ride to get it closer to trials. What kinda tricks do you do? Also, what tyres do you run, are they okay - slip much?

Hey again! What's the Tartybikes of the BMX world? Also, check out my 'Park tyres' thread if you could! Cheers guys

    Park Tyres

I might get a bit of stick for this, but here goes ... Could anyone suggest some tyres suitable for skate parks for my mod (Onza T-Comp '07)? I guess the front will be easy, just whack a BMX tyre on there, but the rear is 19" and would need to be much wider than your average BMX tyre. I currently run Maxxis Creepy Crawlers and they just slide so much it's really stunting my park riding. I still want them to be able to grip enough for street however because I still enjoy hitting my old spots. Quick explanation: All my friends ride park (they don't have trials bikes) and there are few places to hit, so it's easier for me to ride park, in a kind of tech BMX style. I'm actually really enjoying the flowly style - I don't enjoy the 'mini-hop-for-10-minutes-before-you-do-the-trick' style most riders seem to take and I'm getting a lot of respect for the kind of tricks I can do with a trials bike. Does anyone else ride park?
  11. I ride an Onza T-Comp ('07) and wondered if anyone uses or knows if an Echo 4-bolt would fit? I've measured it and it's close to or exactly 100mm. That's the maximum for the Echo, so thought it might be safer to go for a Gu which goes up to 102mm, but thought surely if the bolts were right at the maximum (i.e. right up to the edge) of the slot, then there would be even less flex as the bolts couldn't slip outwards such as with the Gu. Or am I just talking turkey?

    Bmx Questions

Few quick fire questions - I want to get into BMXing ... *How heavy is the average park bike? (compared to trials bikes maybe, numbers could help) *What kind of tricks can you do outside of a skatepark? *Brakeless - yay or nay? Cheers )
  13. There was a topic not long ago (it may even still be alive) entitled 'my new t-pro frame' or something similar of a guy who got his frame anodized. Come to think of it he got it in orange too like you want, just on an Onza T-Pro frame. It looks really nice, so well worth a quick search. It cost him around £50, so I guess that's as good a benchmark as any. EDIT: Here you go - http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=95480
  14. If you think it's cheating then you really should try doing tricks with SPDs on - it's really hard! I have them on my XC bike and I find bunnyhops harder; maybe it's the foot position, who knows, the movement just isn't the same. So I guess if by cheating you mean 'be-worse-and-kill-yourself' then yes ... yes SPDs are definitely 'cheating' haha
  15. Nice job mate, looking really nice! I figure you want more than just a pat on the back, so just to be anal - here's some constructive criticisms/suggestions ... * Play about with fonts for 'The UK's only...' part * Make the green UK more defined - maybe a thin black or yellow border? * Watch capital letters, such as in 'Joe baxter' * Watch consistency of a space or not after the '>>' * Add more colours, it's slightly bland with just black/white/green * Play around with colours/borders/background for the '>> 07 Zoo...' parts, too hard to read in my opinion Mostly just little things an examiner/teacher might look out for, only 'big' thing would be trying to add more colour, I found when I was doing graphics the examiner/teachers weren't looking for things that were 'cool' and awesome looking like yours but just something that fits the brief, which probably included eye-catching, so sometimes I needed to sacrifice what I thought looked best and add more striking colours to get marks rather than street cred (pardon the language ). Huge credit to you for making something like that! Hope I helped.
