Take your cranks off, it may just be that your BB is loose. Tighten it, should solve it. If not it could be the splines/tapers in the cranks.

I'm pretty sure the colour of the old ones was a darker yellow, as I had some and they were almost a light orange. And the old ones will last years on a decent grind, new ones will shit themselves within days. Old ones are harder too.
