  1. Very interesting seeing the difference between answering the questions based on purely personal income and situation or answering based on household facts (which is what they actually ask about)... One says Elite and one says emergent service workers... What a heap of sh**e.
  2. Those videos are awesome! It looks like so much fun! Did the impact that you got on video do much damage to the car? I am surprised you had the temperament to keep driving after hitting the tyre wall / tree - I would have either been furious or absolutely devastated... (more likely the latter)
  3. Hey guys, a quick and pretty generic question that I have seen in here a dozen times but here goes... I am moving back to my parents for a few months and will need a car to travel to work and back (max 150 miles a week). I am moving away again in September so the call will be getting sold on again then. I am essentially looking for a toy so I just want something fun and a bit different. I have always loved cars and have always had a plan for my 'first' car of my own and now I am in a position that I can own one I don't know what I want. Ideally I don't want to spend more than about £2k on the car but insurance etc isn't an issue as long as it is not obscene... Any thoughts?
  4. You have failed the practice citizenship test. Questions answered correctly: 16 out of 24 (67%) Time taken: 05 minutes 11 seconds What a heap of shite... I do not see how someone being able to answer those questions means they are automatically suitable to be citizens in this country? I am all for immigration, in all forms, as long as it is for the benefit of all involved but I do not see this test being in any way a good addition to immigration policy...? Only perceived benefit is that it may act as a test of one's ability to read and understand English?
  5. The only explanation for that is that you were the one causing all the trouble... Did you try to cut through your own door with a chainsaw? I made that mistake too once, very embarassing...
  6. I think you should be fine... You need to consider that any dog that attacks a human being can be put down - regardless of training situation... Best bet is giving one of the training companies a call and make sure you follow the law to the letter! Having read about the dogs a bit online they sounds incredible... I personally could never have one in a house with children (I even lock my springer spaniel out the house when we have kids in and he couldn't bite his way out of a paper bag).
  7. I think I may have found the answer to the initial question. Are you training the dogs to be protection dogs or attack dogs? There appears to be a significant difference in the eyes of the law...
  8. I have done some very brief browsing and come accross some websites. If you search for personal protection dogs you will come accross dozens of companies who offer such services. I am sure you will find (hopefully) that they can help. Edit: didn't actually read anything from the website I linked to - doesn't apply to dwellinghouses. oops :/
  9. That seems to be the sensible thing to do. You say you have children? The thing I would be concerned about is the fact that it doesn't matter how well trained they are, they are still animals and I wouldn't be happy having dogs like that in a house with children.
  10. I know very little on the formalities of this area which is why I am asking as many questions as I am answering. However, you accredits such training? For example, if it is equivelant to the police training where the dog is trained to attack on command then I imagine you could argue it was self defence and protection. Like I said to me (having studied little bits of law) you would need to show it if proportional... If the dog bit and wounded a man wileding a chainsaw where your family were at home then I can imagine you may be okay. However, I know this is a terrible thing to say but the dog is trained to do a job and I am sure you are aware that if it does happen the dog may be put down (regardless of civil proceedings - which couldn't have the dog put down) and if that is the only punishment surely it is worth having them anyway? Edit Re: Matthew - surely if you are the only one who can have the dogs attack on command it makes it kind of useless in the situation you are describing (i.e you're out of the house leaving your family behind?) If the dogs are just trained to be aggressive you won't have a leg to stand on and will get bollocksed in just about every way possible.
  11. I am afraid I don't know for sure... In theory yes you would because they are your property and are in many instances a lethal weapon. However, if it is legal to own such dogs (you said you have owned them before so I am sure you know) I would imagine you would be able to plead self defence... Just need to make sure that, as in all self defence cases, the response to the threat is proportional. Can't be having the dogs maul and kill a 16 year old kid who is chancing his luck stealing some plant pots... Haha! Should also add these circumstances that your not willing to go in to detail about may cause you to be completely f**ked anyway if it makes you appear to be a threat to the community. You should be able to get legal advice on the matter. Try phoning the Citizens Advice Bureau - if they can't answer the question they will be able to put you on to someone who can. Alternatively if you have time you may find the answer in the Dangerous Dogs Act.
  12. Cheers guys, I am usually quite level headed about stuff like this but this is just messing with me... I'm guna stay with it and see how it goes. It is a serious relationship but I suspect it is more serious for her in terms of commitment (she is 5 years older and was in the process of moving back home (international) when we met but she stayed to see how things would go). I almost wish it was just some random guy she met on a night out but she works with this guy and every time she is at work it is all I am going to be thinking about. Hmmm, time will tell...
  13. If by have a word you mean kick the **** out of, well it has already crossed my mind. This guy knows we are together because he was a few years above me at school and I would have considered him a mate... Now it is clear he is a low life little dirtbag. Seriously wanted to explode earlier but I don't want to scare her... Cheers.
  14. Hey guys,I don't usually post on here but since the forum is famous for it's problem solving abilities I may aswell ask... My girlfriend and I have been together for over a year and it has been awesome. She really does mean the world to me. We have never had any serious problems, we have had minor spats but really nothing that means anything... This morning I got a phonecall from her saying she had been stupid and had kissed another guy (from her work). I went round to her house and we spoke about it, there was lots of too-ing and fro-ing. I decided to give her another chance because I do love her and she did seem genuinely sorry and she was totally distraught about it. At that time I thought I was fine and everything would be okay... She went to work about an hour ago and now I have been sitting here just thinking about what I am going to do... I feel like shit! Have any of you guys had an experience like this where you have put something like this behind you and continued on with the relationship? I really don't want to lose her but I just need to know what someone else thinks (don't want to talk to anyone about it just now). Thanks in advance guys.
  15. Yeah, I watched the speech by the depute and found it amusing the muppet features himself, Nick Griffin, turned up with the fat bald monkey in front of him and after about 5 minutes I was having urges to destroy the television so I had to turn it off... He make me physically angry.... He is a disgrace to our country and I feel ashamed at the prospect of someone from outside the UK seeing that, most of us know what he is about... We know just to ignore him.
  16. Hey guys, looking for some help with my home network, this is truely baffling. Me and my flatmate both have identical laptops, same model (Sony Vaio VGN-NR32M if it would make a difference), same operating system (vista) etc. Now when we tried to first set up the network we set it up and set mine as the lead computer but my computer was never able to connect to the wireless network. We tried with the other laptop and it worked perfectly first time. We are on Virgin Home broadband and it is a regular Netgear router that you get when you sign up. However what is strange is my laptop works on my university and parents network and even works with our network using an ethernet cable, the xbox works on the home network, my phone, flatmates laptop (clearly) and his ipod. Everything we have every tried to connect it with has connected first time and without complication. I have tried to connect it with the Virgin Wireless manager and the Windows system. Neither work. Any help would be muchly appreciated. Thanks
  17. He does and I am not saying that what he did is acceptable. He should have ensured it was better presented and spelt properly. I'm sorry but nobody can deny the fact that Gordon Brown is intelligent. It's just a fact... lol. The Digital Economy Bill is a load of bollocks to be honest. It will never work, even if the 40 MPs that turned up to debate it do manage to get it through parliament... (see below) Clicky
  18. Yes, seriously. So the guy has shit hand writing. As far as I am aware (here to be corrected on this one) he is the only politician to have taken the time to hand-write a letter of condolence to any family members who have lots people to the war? Even the woman it was addressed to re-called her original statement and said that the thought that went into it far outweighed the fact it was poorly written. He will be the first person to say he isn't a man that can give elaborate, clean cut presentations but to be honest I would rather leave that to a spokesperson and have someone that actually has experience of running the country to make the decisions. This is not me trying to make you all vote labour, it is just my opinion.
  19. Firstly, Ben Rowlands, I agree with pretty much everything you have said! Was quite scary reading your responses. Haha. Totally agree. However, I think that Gordon Brown is the right man to run the country (just now). He is a genuinely intelligent man and I do believe that this is the reason that so many people are reluctant to take on board what he says. Lots of people seem to forget that this is the man who was the Chancellor whilst Tony Blair was in charge, and despite all of his short comings the country experienced hugely prosperous times and everyone / majority of people in the country benefited in some way. It seems they would rather have some (charismatic?) arsehole, like David Cameron, who in my opinion has no more credibility than Jordan running for prime minster. He is more of a celebrity than a politician. FACT! I am going to vote labour purely because, like I said above, I believe he is best suited to get this country out of the shit that we are in. We have to remember that it was not Gordon Brown or even Tony Blair that put us up shit creek without a paddle. It was the crash in the American housing market and the knock-on effect it had on everyone else. If you vote Conservatives and they win we are in trouble, there will be cuts across the board, I don't see how it can be a good thing. If you vote for some obscure party (like MRL) in protest you end up with the conservatives winning because many other people are voting for them purely in protest. If you vote Lib Dem we end up with a hung parliament and I don't see how that can work, considering the three parties can't agree on the most basic things so running the country would be a nightmare. Despite all I have said, if in 4 years time when another election is called the country is well on its way to recovery I will be voting for someone else, I don't know who yet but I think change would be beneficial but only in a time when we are steady enough to deal with change. More change now would only cause more problems.
  20. I don't know if I want to... Do I really need them in my life if they can do that to me without feeling much about it? Im totally regretting not leaving this f**king city to go to uni... Fresh start would be super awesome right now!
  21. Right, bare with me - this is probably guna be extremely unstructured and missing lots. To put it in perspective I had been going out with a girl for over a year and it was all going awesome, everything was lovely.... We got to a point in the relationship where I had moved away for uni and we just couldn't keep going... We drifted apart and agreed to go our separate ways which was cool because it was all mutual and we thought we would still be friends. Then we kept the physical side of the relationship for about another month but then she told me that she couldn't keep doing it because she still liked me and strangely enough I agreed and kinda thought it was for the best... We agreed it would be good to get some time apart and we haven't spoken at all for the last month. About an hour ago I got a text saying, "go f**k yourself! I never wanna speak to you again!" I called her back straight away only to find that she was at a mates house, pissed out her head with a bunch of her mates. This is where it gets pretty shit! I am best mates with one of the girls there so I gave her a quick call and she basically told me to f**k off. I have stuck by this girl for so many years through family shit, messed up relationships and the one time I ask a favour of her I get f**ked over. So I am sitting in my flat, flatmates all away out, wondering what the f**k I have done. Its f**king killing me, the two girls I cared most about in the world have both just f**ked me over in the last hour. So, it official, I am off serious relationships for good... May even try homosexuality to see if it is any easier... lol! I am not really expecting anyone to read all of that shit but f**k - a good rant really does make you feel better!
  22. I have just started using chrome instead of Firefox and I love it, so much cleaner, simpler and faster.
  23. So true, I moved into private accommodation with a mate from school, I am in first year just now, (both at different uni's in the same city) and i have totally missed out on a huge amount of the social stuff! BIG BIG BIG mistake. It's expensive but i genuinely think it's worth it...
