  1. A gap without a pedal kick...that far? Thats sick.!
  2. Hi, do you mean rear wheel hopping on the spot? There is a sweet spot in which you would learn to aim your front wheel to. Once you find that point, try hopping 2-4 times, slowly as you get better you will be able to hop more. Remember the lower the front wheel, the lower your butt should be. Once you've found your sweet spot, and sorta master rear wheel hopping, you can den try to hop forward, backwards and sideways. Hops are useful when you have little space for even the tiniest pedal kicks. They also give you momentum from the bounce.
  3. Thanks for the replies guys sorry i've not been online for awhile been so busy with work.
  4. Hi guys would the Hayes El Camino Be a good choice for a budget disc brake for a 221 PR? A magura marta cost 900+ SGD while an EL camino cost only abt 400SGD.
  5. 20" Pros : Lighter,Easier to Throw, Lesser Stuff to Break 20" Cons : Harder to roll up on roll off obstacles (smaller wheelbase). The 20" is great for someone who has been riding 20" their whole lives, its an active bike, easier to throw around. Great for smaller frame sized rider like me! 26" Pros : Rolling becomes much easier due to the bigger wheelbase, more distance covered 26" Cons : Heavier,A lil more stuff to break, not as flicky and throwable as a 20". The 26" is great for people riding mtbs all their lives. Much easier to balance on them. Its all based on personal preferences, both have its good and bad points. I prefer the 20" over the 26" due to my small frame short human body. But i love the feeling of being able to balance extra stable and being able to roll off lotsa obstacles on the 26". Especially since i roll alot. For a beginner i recommend a 20". Slightly cheaper, Easier to learn on it, though it may be a little active, you'll get used to it after awhile.
  6. As much as i hope that Trials would grow in size and the quality of riders, i guess being small has its advantages..heh...gives u a human touch of belonging in a small tight knit group! Well hopefully that is. Everytime i ride with my friends, i feel so blessed and lucky. Though we do disagree on stuff...but we're only humans... at the end of the day i guess the small group thingy bonds us as friends...in a tighter way. I'm -------> "Not Gay".
  7. I usually drink 500ml of plain cold water, followed by a banana for added energy! Just before i ride, (depending on how hot and how hard i ride) I would always buy a can of isotonic drink like H2O or Pokari Sweat, and 2 bottles of 1.5l Mineral Water. Hee! My first post as a validated member of UK Trials Forum YaY!
  8. I use 1 finger braking all the time, Your muscles in your hands and palms work in syncronisation. If you use 2 fingers i assume your index and middle finger... that would only leave your ring and PINKIE...and your thumb. I wonder where you're gonna find the strength to throw the bike around or even hold it stable... Your middle finger is probably the strongest finger, not only for that international language..thingy..or poking stuff...heh So having your middle finger on the handlebar would help in holding the bike a lil more stable... i might be wrong... but hell yeah it boils down to personal preference.... Just my thoughts
  9. Spongy is the word!! Watch out for your TPA.... Make sure you tune them back to zero everytime you finish riding... Try not to use more den 1 round of ur tpa...its better to adjust ur brakes from the mounts, den rely too much on the TPAs. Somehow they cause lots of bubbles in my system. My LBS adviced against using it, well too much of it.
  10. Aye...you bleed baby oil like Magura oil...the..same way, using a big syringe...lol. Magura oil isn't as thick as baby oil i reckon, Magura oil is made to withstand changes in temperature. Not too sure bout baby oil, it might be too thick or thin..i dunno.
  11. Don't use dot 4 or 4 point etc... Don't use baby oil. Its best to use Magura blood(mineral oil). Just stick with the original, you won't go wrong. You might wanna check on those pads, might have to change them. Get a rebleed....too. Spend a lil cash, to re-tune your brakes...and you'll get problem free ridings... Cheers.!
  12. Deng Qiang...is a rider, he is also very good at business. Because of him, We are given the options of getting high end parts for low end prices. Though i'm not sure if you compare koxx and Monty's highest end parts....to the Echo Cncs... But i'm proud of him lol....i'm chinese. though im from Singapore. My next bike wld def be an Echo. I just need cash to buy my martas, sell my pr, top up some cash.... and i'm gonna ride a ECHO LITE WAHaHAHAHAhaHaHAHA lol sorry...
  13. Try becoming comfortable with your bike first, the geometry can be really weird for someone who has never ridden a trials bike in his life. Get your basics right before moving on to bigger moves, or harder techniques. Get your... Trackstand (BAlanCe) Pivot (twisting either rear or front wheel) Rockwalk (a pivot in motion sideways on the ground) Pogo (2 wheels hopping in place, small low hops) and finally your hopping on rear wheel. If you're falling back, while trying to hop on your rear wheel, it means that you're too far back. Theres a sweet spot of balance for you. You'll find it after awhile. Remember, the higher the front wheel, the higher ur butt shld be....the lower front wheel, the lower ur butt shld be. Arms should be bent, legs moderately bent...squish tight to your rear brakes... Good luck...
