I'm 38, but I still act like I'm 21 if that helps. Totally enjoying my time on the mod when I can get out there. Get it done, middleageman!

Throw some pretty paint on it and let her put flower pots and knick-knacks on it while you're not using it Could work, I suppose. One day I'll fashion up some nicer stuff, but hell, everything is free and it gets bashed up anyway, so I won't bother until it becomes unsafe - like anything is 'safe' with my clumsy noob arse trying to ride a bike on it ....

Hi all! Here's my improved practice area. So far have only shelled out cash for wood screws. Everything else has been found for free The real find was the wire spool, which I got from the refuse bin at an electric supply house. I saw another on my way into work this morning, so I'll grab that tomorrow. Hope you like! May post better pics tomorrow.

Sometimes a change in shoes or brand of shoe helps if you haven't tried this already. Make sure they are quality running shoes. If you can get them at a specialty runners' shop, they'll usually watch how you jog or run and suggest a particular style or, in some cases, they cut the soles in particular places to let it flex easier. My buying the right shoes with some guidance from the pros fixed all of the aches and pains right off the bat. Just a thought. Good luck to finding out what it is.

Nice! Some pretty mad stuff around 3:03 and on! Good show and thanks for sharing!

Yeah, been there before. It sucks. Hope your stuff gets there pronto, guy! What's your plan from here if it's a no-show?

How about some colors like solferino or nacarat. Both nice choices to me.

I got some nice stuff like some Vans shoes and some bike parts, but what was more important is I got my dad something he really liked. He's always been a big fan of baseball and the players and whatnot. Knows all kinds of crap about it. He used to play in the minors in New York when he was in his twenties too. Anyway ... I found a giant book for him with everything the man could ever want to know -and more - about baseball in the early days. He prattled on and on about stats he didn't know about and all kinds of stuff about his favorite players that he watched when he was growing up. He almost wouldn't stop reading the damn thing. Best part was my mom was telling me that "I am gonna pay for this" because she's gonna have to hear about it for weeks! Haha! Anyway, it felt pretty good to get the old man something that got to him.

Haha, Helium in tyres? Don't think it will work with the usual suspects for valves and innertubes, but here's everyone's chance at an instant retirement plan with zillions of pounds to burn. I'd look into inventing, but I have a beer to finish first. OK, 3 2 1 GO!

Hi again, here's what I got for the t-shirt job: Avid Juicy Ultimates. Of course the rotors will have to be changed for 203s and I would need adapters for the calipers. Anyone use these before?

I just need to get hammered way earlier than normal. Could be fun. Job gets in the way, being about 8 hours behind all you guys. I dunno, TF and the amount of postings seems OK to me, but I wasn't around here to carry on back in the 'glory days.'

notching the snails a bit more and greasing the bolt threads seems to be sensible too. That sounds like a good plan to me. Gonna give that a try on my zm2 as I have the same issues, although adjustments aren't as frequent as the OP mentioned.

Some nice pointers on here. I'm gonna lace up my stock rims whenever I get some hubs for them. gonna take some notes on this now. Thanks fellas!

I saw a link to Sehldon Brown's site posted in trials chat, which reminded me of another great resource for information. The site's a bit of a hassle to find certain information, but it's a great resource. Read up and build your first wheels! It really isn't that hard with a little practice and time. Like I said before, maybe you could let the experts true it for you proper to save a few bucks. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html#getting

Although that site's a little hard to sift through - that's a great link for all kinds of bike mechanic information! That Sheldon guy knew his stuff. R.I.P.

So I've seen in various places these bottom bracket measurements (i.e. +20, +45 etc.) Could someone enlighten me about what that means? I will assume that the higher the number, the higher the center of the BB is, but is it in mm (above or below) the axle line from front to rear, or from the ground? Thanks for the bit of wisdom!

I've built one 32/3 cross road wheel with minimal instruction and it turned out just fine - even though it took me forever. I think with that wiki/link he could at least learn to lace the wheel and maybe take it to a bike shop so they can true it proper. Save him some money in the long run and learn the basics of wheel building. The link has me interested in lacing up my stock rims, as it's much more informative that what I had when I was learning the basics. Either way, good luck to you!

I rather like the cold, so I still go out an play. My vees seem to work just fine with the cold temps too. I must say, trials biking is much warmer than my road biking expeditions in the mountains during winter.

Welcome aboard! My story was somewhat similar. Nice post! If you can find some to try out, I'd run with that, as suggested. I didn't have the option as trials is unheard of in this area on my side of the pond, so I just went for it. Just for the record, I'm 38, about 180cm and chime in at 15 stones or so (if I did my math right). I went with a mod and couldn't be happier! Although truth be told, I'm building a stock piece by piece. May get to try it in a year or so.

Nice pics. thanks for sharing! Good to see you still out n about. I'm chiming in at 38 myself.

Well, I'll be the test subject then. It'll take me a while to get the project done, but will report the results when the time comes. thanks for the input Skoze!

Now you guys have me wondering. Mentioned in a post a while back I was getting a set of Avid discs for my stock build for doing some freelance art for a company. Believe it's the Juicy 7s. Suggestions mentioned I should consider 203mm rotors front/rear. I like the on/off type braking, personally, but should I reconsider?
