  1. Ta Janson, it's all clear, so a moment is torque?
  2. Exunctly, just like the pawls experience less torque as they aren't at the centre of the sprocket. :o EDIT Damn you Adam and your lack of flood control. :o What is a Nm?? I know its newton metres, but what does it mean?? (Y)
  3. Most insurance companies demand them, but if you don't have one you can go to your local cop-shop and they can cut your post code into your bb shell with a dremmel for you at least up here they do.
  4. Sorry wasn't aimed at you, I was just asking because I wanted to know, but because I was talking to the mrs on the phone by the time I'd finished typing, you lot had posted. :o I then noticed that Tarts later posts use Radius not diameter so was I right Adam?? Also leave Ad's alone he knows his shizzle, also if anythings thats an over-estimation as the pawls are not at the centre of the sprocket and thereby will not recieve the full torque at the centre. I thinks (Y)" EDIT That's the maximum possbile tension as the chain will snap above that, and most people do not apply that much power.
  5. (Y) Is it not the radius?? As the leverage is really to the centre and not out the other side?? I'm not sure but that makes more sense.

    Racism

It's true, but when something like this happens you feel shocked and horrified and stunned. I was being racially abused by some muslim boys in my school, first thought that came into my head wasn't I'm proud to be jewish but "f**k you you f**king arseholes" went off on a huge rant at them and I got in trouble. I was too stunned and angry to think so I went with my instincts, it's the same with chris's mate what should and is are two very different things. EDIT Grammar, spelling and example. For example heres a case of should and is; during the second world war the British governement was perfectly aware of the situation in Germany and what was going on in auschwitz and the other camps, however when it was suggested that they bomb the train line from berlin to poland that was being used almost exclusively for the extermination effort, as it was on the route of a regularly flown bomb run and would save hundreds of jewish lives, they refused on grounds of extra risk. If any one of them had had an ounce of decency they would have said yes as it was they refused and a pilot seeing he had a few extra bombs after his mission attempted to drop them on the track, he was later court martialled. This is a perfect example, and it is also an example of why I hate institutionalised racism more than any other.

    Racism

Keeping quiet is what had over 6 million jews killled in the holocaust (awaits crude"it's not true, it's a jewish hoax" statement from sameer). Keeping quiet is not the answer yet when I or another jewish friend defends their rights, we are being 'demanding' or 'being paranoid', yet when certain religions DEMAND that their laws are respected they are being reasonable. (Y) For example, Jewish law forbids for a man to touch a woman he isn't married to and vice versa, so if you were a highly religious jew you didn't do medicine, simple. However recently a certain other religion has demanded that members of their faith don't have to touch members of the opposite sex (again except with in marriage) and that the government force universities to change their medical degrees to suit this law. This now means that any new doctors will have no hands on experience of certain procedures, meaning we have doctors who are much less well able to practise their profession. All because almost half the world's population are members of this faith. This is not right. I resent it. :( Another example, in switzerland there are laws governing the method of killing animals, this means that they cannnot be killed in the way seen proper to certain religions (namely islam and judaism) this was acceptable until recently, as one could import meat; when an animal rights (or anti-human rights group as I feel they should be called) demanded that all meat not killed in a way corresponding to swiss law be banned from the country (according to many swiss citizens this was motivated by pure antisemitism), this means that now no religious jews can live in switzerland CLEARLY contravening the human right to practise ones religion freely. Also it's a load of bullshit if anyone has ever visited an abatoir and seen the traditional way of killing animals they will have no queries as to which is more humane. Rant over Sorry people but racism REALLY f**ks me off. P.S. In relation to what Chris said, many people will argue that if a black person uses nigger on another black person it is ok. I would like to shed light on this: when a non-jew calls me a Jew I feel hurt and upset, I may not show it but I do, but when a Jew says it it feels different and ok. Don't ask me why but that's how it is and I'd assume it's the same with black people. Daver EDIT Also Jon you're one hundred percent correct, when I see people shy away from the topic of racism I am appalled and disgusted at their spinelessness.
  8. Left sir left, tis the left one as I have one sitting next to me. (N)"
  9. Lol ok, I bow to your superior knowledge. :)" :)
  10. Well, I live in Glasgow, ned capital of the known universe, so I feel I have a right to an opinion. Yes neds are f**king annoying pieces of shit, and yes the new 1st year (year 6 I think) are alot more annoying than my year ever were but; neds are mostly the product of their upbringing, they all behave as they do because they don't know any better, I know a few of the local neds who are supposed to be important. They are nice people once they get to know you, they give you shit you give them shit back a wee bit and its all good, you'll never have more hassle, they just live by a different set of rules to us, learn them and your sorted. Now the real question why are neds neds? alot of them are neds through no fault of their own. However there are a few wankers that are neds because they're little dicks anyway. but the vast majority grew up that way its all they know and we can't blame them for it (can you blame a small child for speaking it's mind), we just need to try and help them onto the straight and narrow and before anyone says it doesn't work I have seen it happen before and more and more often the older we get. Rant over
  11. Wee history lesson, moto trials was created by motorbike couriers in the 1st world war (might have been second) as testing their skills against each other. And kids play nicely. (Y)
  12. Trials is riding without putting your foot down or touching the floor, if you do it in a compy way (custards) or a streety way (berridge) you are still doing the same thing, you just express yourselves in a different way and all have the same aim, to have alot of fun. (Y)"
  13. May I ask how long till you get the backings?
  14. I just said that, and my post magically dissapeared??? (Y)
  15. Pads: Rimkam blue compound Time used: I've had them for 3 weeks+ and I've ridden em a bare minimum of 12 hours Rim used: 521 Grind: No Ceraminc: Yes Brake used: Deore arms 2 boosters, xt levers with no blocks removed a full outer odyssey brake lines cable with krytecg lube What is your opinion of a working brake: Locks and has loads of power, decent bite and a wee smidgen of modulation. How do they compare to previous pads you have used: They lock better than plaz crvs but have less bite but the wear rate is a lot better. (These are the only other pads I have used on the ceramic rim, so I won't mention other ones.) Review: When I recieved the pads I fitted them to my adapters and set up the brake pads flat to the rim I then went for a ride. The pads worked well straight from the off, with a very nice squeak as promised but were slightly mushier than the crvs. After doing a few ups I gained enough confidence to try and use as little pressure on the lever as possible and was shocked how little pressure I needed to make the pads lock and hold. Next was the gap test, the gap is a decent size (aruond 5 feet) and it has a pretty tricky landing so I tried it, eventually I ended up doing the same thing as before, reducing pressure and again the results were impressive. On my next ride I rode the pads in the wet (read pishing rain) and they worked about as well as the crvs did maybe slightly better, the bite was not really there but the power was out in force, I did the same gap mentioned before and the pads held well. I then went and found a big puddle and dumped me back wheel in it, this led to a loss of power (no shit sherlock :( ) but once I'd ridden around dragging the brake the pads bedded in more and more eventually I ended up with a very powerful but easily controlable back brake. The bite was almost as good as the crvs but there was more power on tap with less pressure. Needless to say I was impressed. Throughout the time I've had the pads I have recieved the same reliable, predictable braking. Whenever I did get a bit of fade (thanks to glasgows streets being the oiliest in britain :) :) ) all I had to do was dunk the rim in water again and voila back to the same performance. Now for the most important part, wear rate, I measured wear on these pads, and at the most worn part the pads have worn a maximum of 1 mm (if that) I am happy with this after all the controversy surrounding the wear rate. EDIT Sorry for the lecture. :"> (Y)
  16. Also in the rain tar is just about the slippiest stuff on earth.
  17. :- Monkey has returned. :P :P :P :P :-
