  1. wrong, sorry but if you take a little care you'll probably get away with it. A mate had his bike nabbed from below his student accomodation. thats a well lit area busy area (at all hours students ) and he had a heavy duty motorbike lock on it to the bike railings and with 2 cctv cameras from different angles on it, Its less then 200 yards from the main Pymouth city police station as well. the police looked BOTH CCTV footage and stuff and just said 'nope, hood up, can't see his face, can't help, sorry'
  2. there was a pretty good topic in NMC about this a lil while ago possibly called 'trials help technique?' about which direction to hop etc EDIT: link: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....134801&st=0
  3. err.... i can't be precise, perhaps a week or a fortnight? i just stopped doing sidehops the wrong way altogether for a while. I also concentrated on doing other things in that direction to accelerate the process however don't frustrate yourself, it's meant to be a hobby and be fun, if it hacks you off, move on and do something else for a while (but don't sidehop the 'bad' way) soon you'll just find yourself lining up for sidehops this way rather then the old way and not even realising, and it won't be an issue Its all a question of making something instinctive, after a period of repetitions and time your body learns the motions and they become natural again. my gapping lol, i was very comfortable at bike length (stock) using both the start further back and the edge-launched static hop. but now i am gapping maybe bike plus a foot. the starting 'further back' is all i can use to get this distance, just cant seem to throw the bike the other way. I notice that lots of people go at an angle and i don't, am i missing something here? I've tried it but just end up going straight.
  4. its fair enough, if you really cant get along with going the 'correct' way then no one is forcing you buuuuut.... the fact the majority of us (average riders and pro's alike) sidehop that way must be for a good reason i reckon. i always feel more comfortable when hopping to have my drive foot away from the object as it gives me more room and a better angle/setup. but as i said originally do whatever gets you the best results (although as i 're-learnt' sides i can do both alright and it winds my mate up who can only hop one way lol) still interested to see what comes from the gapping tips though. i think i just lack technique in this respect, i can do alright just inconsistent
  5. tunnicliffe hops that way (towards his drive foot) and he can huck. i started sidehopping the wrong way and have now learnt the 'correct' way, i can go bigger with more confidence and stability now the 'correct' way is alien at first but perceviere (sp?) and it should come good in the end. oh and if its doesn't... f**k it, do it your way
  6. does look like the pins might be catching on the bash and its holding the links away from the cog, try spacing the cog out if there is enough thread. or if its modstock it may be an issue of the gearing and chainstay length meaning the chain is a awkward length (happened once or twice while playing with ratio's on the bmx)
  7. everyone in my house has just watched this in complete silence apart from a few 'what the f**k', 'oh my god' and 'hahahahahahaha' moments none of them ride, just me, they cannot believe it is possible. i love the filming and editing (doesn't dave work with ride magazine? swear i've seen some articles?) it shows what can be achieved with a fresh outlook and a different perspective, bmx videos have an air of quality and professionallism which many trials vids lack, but this one breaks the mould! thanks very much danny and dave for creating this uproar, i'm pretty sure it will change the direction of trials forever!!
  8. i enjoyed that, nice one. skid lid maybe but i like the riding! you seem to have a good mix of things to ride over there as well. get well soon if you haven't already!
  9. if its a 150mm back end then a lot of DH hubs come in that width for the wider back ends those rigs have. the pro II (not the trials one) can be bought in a 150mm spacing, but sun ringle hubs, atomlab, funn, halo and hope hubs all have 150mm options if that the size required? why not measure the spacing so you know?
  10. tried a nice long manual (on my pure not a 24" street sled) into hop up manual on a 2 and a half foot wall. manual was spot on, got about 5m from wall, had to feather the brake, massive honking noise, everyone on the pier whipped their heads around.... just in time to see me drop the font and plough into the wall. soon as it dropped i just let go and tried to clear the bike, ended up putting my feet on the wall and falling back onto my bike much to the ammusement of my mates and the rest of the fishers and tourists
  11. hate the edit with a passion riding was good from what i could make out between my eyes going into spasms. a less effect filled video would showcase his riding more effectively, if the original clips (just linked together) without effects is available upload that instead please
  12. those screw together bb's are ok i guess. ran one in a stripped out t-rex BITD. thay don't last as long as a normal bb (slightly smaller bearings and not much choice in terms of quality) plus you'll need two bb tools to install it. can save a frame though (loved hucking that rex about so it was worth it)
  13. looks better in the flesh really disappointed i've missed this weekends rides man, i'll sort my life out soon! btw how did you bodge your mech mate? just got a kmc to replace the snapped item from last ride, and now it doesn't fit through my mech cage, its really annoying!
  14. i would never do that to a bike i intend to ride or have in my posession. the block colour (although the finish appear to be good) is up there with contracting malaria and being stabbed. should've left it alone mate. just an opinion though, i always feel that if you want to spray something funky coulours you should own a bmx as well and mess that up isntead
  15. grind the bolt edges to oblivion witha grinder until you can get a spanner on it, its destructive and brutal but it can work as a last resort take care not to carve up you frame as well though. good luck bud
  16. replace the v brake bushings, and ensure the brake bosses and bolts etc are fully tight, possibly try a v brake booster. the squeal is casued by vibrations, eliminate this and they should quiet down a tad. my XTR v brake was stupidly loud and extremely annoying. also what condition is the rim surface? is the barking surface profile flat or worn and concave? i.e. ) ( compared to l l mine was concave, repalcing the rim reduced the squeal. i also ran standard pads, so that the material didnt vibrate in seperate backings.
  17. I love my bb7, its old abused but still class! When i had my hope on the rear . still going strong on another bike, smooth as silk! erm DMR V8's are the dogs nackers Before anyone goes mental, my original issue tensiles are amazing! (apart from they eat my shoes a tad)
  18. Great grammer there. Point of this topic?
  19. the best gear ratio... is the one which allows you to ride at your best. 20:15 for moi and i don't like it, gonna try sum others
  20. shamus

    Morgan D From Oz

unit! some huge powerlines executed with such precision and style. loved it!
  21. lets not forget they looked awesome! i would love a street slaying beast in 26" (although i guess most cool kids would prefer 24" (i would but i'd need new wheels, hmmm....)) the lovely 'pop' and spinning ability of the old model would have to be kept!!! EDIT: and the seat! i would not have a 'street' bike without one, even if it was an uber-small bmx one
  22. there are loads of options at plymouth (can often depend on courses as they tend to almost group these) whats your budget? Gillwell is ghetto, mental fun, cheapest option i think? most of my mates lived there last year, its the party hall. robbins/pilgrim and a few others are very similar with little to differentiate between them, maybe ensuites can't really remember. oh and the unite ones are better run but way over-priced you'll probably best in halls for the first year, usually it isn't too intense so you can party and enjoy yourself more. second year go for a student house with mates, there are tonnes of these! better to work and more relaxed!
  23. yeah i'd advise the same^^^^ grab a longer mod frame to save on replacing wheels/forks and getting new parts that suit the geo (stem/bars etc) i run stock (5'8" ish not really sure) sometimes wonder if mod would be better. buuut... .... i also love riding stock, i can be much more creative on it. and i ride better on it best way is to try a mates stock and a longer mod and see what the deal is
  24. rear wheel control is better then mine haha. did find the camera work poor though, and the shot at night was just black but yeah basis for improvment, good stuff! i know its on mod () but i would have liked to see more rolling moves myself. but then again just ignore me and enjoy the riding,
